Hey, Veterans Day is this upcoming Saturday.

Honestly, before Veterans Day was nothing more than a name, I never put a date to it, never thought about it. My homeschooled co-op did a small ceremony, but it meant nothing to me, until…

I recently interviewed five veterans in September, and ever since then, anything about them stirs my heart to ask God to bless them. Something stirs in my heart to tell everyone to do it too.

Why? Because of escpeically the testimony of a Specialist Four (Corporal) from Vietnam. When I interviewed him, the stuff he told me was a lot, but what bothers me is what he didn’t tell me. He told me things that made me realize fully the horrors of war,

“We were up to our elbows in dirt, mud, and blood.”

How people don’t respect the sacrifice,

“We were told not to wear our uniforms home because it might cause an incident.”

He told me about things that still effect him,

“I don’t remember any of the ones I saved, only the ones I lost.”

But he also told me this,

“If my country called, I would go in a heartbeat.”

“You’ve got to understand, if I didn’t have that part of my life, I wouldn’t have this part of my life…” (He continued to talk about his wife, children and grandchildren.)

    “If your country calls, go.”

That one man’s testimony about war, changed my view entirely.

So, I just want to leave you with this,

Next time you meet a veteran, shake their hand and thank them for their service.

Next time you see an American flag on the ground, pick it up.

Next time someone tells you their story, listen.

Next time you pass by the grave of a veteran, stop to think who they were and their sacrifices.

Next time you see a memorial, give a moment of silence. That memorial is there in memory of those who saw such horrors that you hopefully will never have to see, and they did it so the ground you stand on right now would be free. So you could call it America. So you could call it your home. So you can live in the home of the brave. The blood they spilt was for you, for your home, for your country, for your flag, for America.

This Veterans Day, I want you and your family, and your friends to pray for all Veterans, to pray for the land they protected, some with their lives.

God bless America! And God bless those who protected it!

    • That’s very interesting. I never really thought much of the day, but this is something to think about. I will pray for the Veterans and our country this Saturday. ❤️ 🇺🇸

    • My grandpa is a Vietnam veteran actually. He didn’t see any combat, but he did sleep through a hurricane.

    • I just played the flute and sang in our school Veteran’s Day Concert. It’s amazing how many served our country, and how real the war was to them.

    • @rae
Thanks for sharing. We definitely need to respect our veterans. I will pray for them too. 🇺🇸

    • Thanks for sharing!! In America, we definitely take for granted our veterans and all they went through. This is a great reminder!
