@ethryndal Hah, are you a perfectionist too? Whenever I try sketching, I always hop straight to the details.
@rachelle … *Mission Impossible themesong plays in the background as I look at your beautiful picture*

@rachelle *spits out drink* IT’S SO BEAUTIFUL! I love the hope it inspires! That’s the neat thing about art (and really, writing as well), how you can invoke such emotion in your viewers.

Also, you have a really good grasp of lighting. 🙂 Good job on that.

Oh, and I totally understand about the whole “technical mechanics” thing, because I’m…[Read more]

@Rachelle Yeah, I figured it was probably meant to be villainous. And speaking for myself and how I draw my villains, I sometimes get carried away in the realism of my subject and forget to not make it creepy. I’m thinking of the mechanics of the thing; others are feeling the tone. So yeah. 🙂

Aww, that is so adorable! His little FACE! Excuse me…[Read more]

@rachelle Oh yes, what Kate said. I didn’t actually notice the reflection at first, but I took another look and there it is. Beautiful. As most well done reflections are. I’m also kind of interested in what the music notes in the background represent. They’re intriguing, which I think is good.

And can I just say you did an excellent job on the…[Read more]

  • @Rachelle Fourteen book series! 😮
Nah… Les Mis probably isn’t that long. It might seem longer ’cause it’s all in one chunk; but it’s only got 1460 pages. 😛

@Ethryndal Ahem, read above line and be grateful. XD The Silmarillion’s only what, in the 300s at most?

I know though, the preface—his letter to his publisher Milton Someone-Or-Other I…[Read more]

@Rachelle Oh look at that, you found the art topic. 🙂

Okay. So I would have to agree with @Sarah-H about the tone of the picture. It feels pretty dark, and while I’m not totally against dark pictures (we have to draw our villains sometimes, right? 😉 ), I don’t think the darkness should be a focusing point. I don’t know the character here or…[Read more]

@rachelle There is an art topic floating around somewhere, but I haven’t posted any of my stuff on it yet. I’m thinking about doing that soon though. 🙂

@emma-flournoy Oh, I’m doing just FINE, honey. *mentally screams and tears out hair* Ahem. The actual book isn’t that bad (it’s nice to finally know who Elbereth is) but the PREFACE. I had to…[Read more]

@Rachelle Hi, Rachelle! It’s neat that you do both writing and art. 🙂 I’m not an artist myself, but my brother is. How does digital art work? Your picture reminds me of an animation that I just watched this morning; here is the link to it.

  • @rachelle. Ahhh, a new person I haven’t met yet. Sorry I’m so late *hangs head in shame* I was very busy all weekend long… BUT WELCOME!!! I’m so glad to see you around here. Glad to hear Kingdom Pen’s name is floating around the Young Writer’s Workshop. (I stalk the Facebook group but I need to get involved over there more) Anyway, I’m glad you…[Read more]

  • @Rachelle Ah, and you know Pride and Predjudice too, I see. 😉 (I think that’s the reference at least…)
I do piano too, and violin.

What, 2 movies and the Broadway musical?! You’re further along in that department than I am (yet. That must change.). Yes, it’s a very big book, but so worth it.

@Ethryndal You need support, eh? Poor thing. Is it…[Read more]

@rachelle Welcome to the land of the pen! Others may have beat me to it, but I never mind that to much. Ahem, welcome to the Bestistest place on the internets! 😛
Three novels! Woof…I’ve only written one, though I have written a half of another and enough one-page beginnings to make five chapters of beginnings. 😀
    Again, welcome!

  • Ethryndal replied to the topic Rachelle's "Hello" in the forum Start HERE 8 years, 1 month ago

@rachelle Ooh, digital art, how neat! AND comicy cartoony things. I guess you get the added satisfaction of being an artist and a writer at the same time. 🙂 One day I’m going to try some of that stuff… But at the moment, I stick to pencil, with a bit of water-color mixed in. I mainly do people too, though I’m more of a portrait artist.

  • @rachelle If you can do one hour per day, I think that’s an awesome pace to keep up consistently! A large part of how much time you should spend depends on other activities; if you’re able to spend more time on your writing, that will of course help out a lot, but sometimes it’s difficult to even find even that much time. I have the same goal of…[Read more]
