Would you mind sending me another link? I think that was the reason I stopped reading in the first place–because it got lost somewhere in my piles and piles of Google docs.

Though definitely intriguing. Why did poor Cele see gongs and get confused?

Well, you certainly know how to disturb people.
Goodnight
And yours is just a tad confusing 😛

I just finished my fifteen minutes. I got 415.
My last sentence (hence my interest in colts):
Several foals, all varying shades of brown, three black mares and a yearling colt, who looked big enough to be kicked out of the mob any day now.

@rochellaine Well, I don’t know if you like fantasy, but her historical fantasy Fawkes is really good. 🙂
Alright, I have to leave now. Enjoy word warring! 🙂

Well, I’ve just noticed a lot of use of the word colt. Just then I saw “rounding up mustang mares and colts”, etc. So I was wondering if it had a different meaning.
“Some guns are called colts” was also my immediate thought.
All right, I’m putting on my timer again @Catwing

@valtmy Heyo! 😀
@catwing @seekjustice @rochellaine Do you all know that Nadine Brandes is having a giveaway for a signed copy of Fawkes and some other Fawkes-related goodies? 🙂 You can find the link to enter through her latest Youtube video.

@rochellaine @seekjustice @catwing
I think I’ll sit out of the wars for the rest of the night. Been pushing myself to crank out the words these past several hours, and I’m feeling not so inspired and motivated now, so I’m gonna leave soon I think. I’ll be on to chat for a bit though. 🙂

@seekjustice I think all those terms are a little confusing for some people (including me, tbh 😛 ), and I don’t think all horse books get it right anyway, so maybe that’s why Americans don’t use the terms that often. 🙂
-
SeekJustice replied to the topic Writers' Corner #21 in the forum General Writing Discussions 6 years ago
Righto. The things I was reading seemed to indicate it meant more generally a horse that hadn’t reached mature age. Here it very specifically means a horse between 1-4. Younger than 1 is a foal, and a female is a filly. I’ve never really seen any Americans use those terms though, which was why I was a little confused.

@catwing I think I like the idea of choosing our favorite sentences better 😉

We use the word colt for a male horse that hasn’t reached adult age yet.

@rochellaine @catwing @jenwriter17
And I’m pretty sure I have no interesting sentences, but this one…
This brumby was one of a highly sought after colouring–not quite pure white, but not cream or golden either.
…is a reference to one of my favourite childhood books, The Silver Brumby.

@catwing @rochellaine @seekjustice
oh yeah, my sentence…
I didn’t know if we were doing our favorite sentence or the last sentence we wrote, so i’m just putting here the last sentence I wrote: Vega twisted one of her box braids around her finger.
I know, gripping isn’t it? 😛
@catwing I like your sentence 🙂

Guess what? I got 269. Without eating pizza.
I’m sort of stuck on the details of capturing brumbies though. Exactly how one does it with a horse and no helicopter.
By the way, Jen. Since you are an American horsie person, what does the word colt mean? You seem to use it in a different way to we do.
