Strange and confused can be fun, definitely, but I prefer more realistic scenarios.
I don’t think I’ve ever written anything purely comedic, but I don’t mind watching or reading something purely for fun every now and then. The thing is, my life and family is fairly comedic so I prefer to look for more serious things in fiction 😛

@seekjustice Okay, now I’m really going to have to read King Solomon’s Mines and see if it’s worse than Lysbeth and Pearl Maiden. 😛
But isn’t confused and strange fun? I love writing confused and strange stories. Do you ever write comedies? We established the other night that your characters don’t always die. 😉

Not scared me in a bad way, but thrilled and creeped me out and fascinated me. Haggard just scares me 😛
I only wrote 1k but it was terribly confused and strange. So I went back to my outline. Have you tried the Snowflake method? You might prefer that way of outlining.

@kaya-young Do you hate romance? My absolute favorite series of all time is on Gutenberg, minus a couple of books. It’s the Patty Fairfield series by Carolyn Wells. It’s not all romance, but romance does play a big part.
Or Westerns? A couple of my other favorite authors from Gutenberg are William MacLeod Raine and B.M.Bower. (There are like…[Read more]

Ah, I see (and The Magician’s Nephew scared me too).
I don’t even remember much about it, just that it terrified me when I read it years ago 🙂

@kaya-young Interesting. I haven’t read any of those. Do you like lighter, less-known works at all?

@seekjustice Well, The Magician’s Nephew terrified me, so, that’s not much to go on. 😉
I absolutely loved the three Haggard his-fics that I read, Pearl Maiden, Lysbeth, and another I can’t remember the name of. I didn’t like the ending of the third one because it was sad, but I liked the story, and it didn’t freak me out. Very susp…[Read more]

Just curious, why did you suggest it to Kaya if it was too horrifying for you?? I’ve only read King Solomon’s Mines and it terrified me, and I’ve never been able to look at Haggard again.
Hey. Its going pretty well. Yesterday I had an idea to start writing the third book of my trilogy without an outline, but I got 1,000 words in,…[Read more]

@kaya-young It’s way to weird for my tastes, so I definitely don’t blame you. 😛 (Never read it, but the synopsis was enough to horrify me.) I do like Haggard’s his-fics though. They’re not weird.
Really? Which ones? I’ve probably read a couple of hundred books on Gutenberg. 😉 But…there are thousands.
@seekjustice Hey! How’s it going?

@kaya-young Cool.
Oh, by the way, did you ever finish reading She by Haggard?

@kaya-young Whoa, you’re here?? Cool!! 😀 😀 Haven’t seen you in a while. What are you working on?

Justice is two and a half/three years older than Zac. And they are twenty-three and twenty respectively.

@seekjustice Zac is younger than Justice, right? If so, by how much? If not…how old are they?

@alia The Elsie Dinsmore article is here. I don’t agree with everything the article says, but it does make a few good points. Usually I look at a book differently depending on the era it depicts and when it was written, but there are some things you can’t compromise anyway.
I did enjoy the Elsie books very much too, but I upon rereading I f…[Read more]

@seekjustice They do sound really cool. And pretty crazy. Any little boy saddled with a name like that these days would be hopelessly bullied. 😮
I will now be departing for the night. Talk to you later!

Well, I’ve just been reading several histories of British kings and some of my favourite names are the Anglo-Saxon kings…Aethulbert, Aethulwulf, Aethalstan, Aelfred. Great names 😛
Yeah, it has a really nice meaning!
Yes, that’s the one I meant. So far, I’m sure it makes zero sense, but at least I’ve started (though I am working…[Read more]

@seekjustice I’m seriously considering using Jaron. However, choosing a name for a character is such an important task I believe I’ll think on it for a bit just to make sure. 😉 Thank you so much!
Yeah, I think both Dalbert and Elbert made me think of Anglo-Saxon names from my old his-fic and history books, so that’s probably why they didn’t s…[Read more]
