@overcomer Exactly. 😉 It’s your own version of the hero’s journey on the KP forum. Which is also why we don’t allow downgrades. Wouldn’t want any of our members to backslide on their hero’s journey, now would we? 😉

Hey all!
It is my pleasure to introduce you all to the new Kingdom Pen site–now faster /and/ mobile-friendly. 😀
As you may notice, it looks quite different. And while I think I’ve caught all the bugs, there may still be some that have evaded my eagle-eye. So if you find something, drop us a note here or email us at kingdompenmag@gmail.com.…[Read more]

@Overcomer *glances around cautiously**whispers* here. Have a link. It’s not running yet but I have it up and a few things on it, and if I don’t give it to you know I’m gonna forget. 😛

@Overcomer I know! I’ve missed you. 🙂
That sounds like a great book, and that is an excellent thought. I have a grand total of two colleagues (@Daeus @Hope) but we have strengths and weaknesses that balance each other out, so we can all learn from each other and teach each other in different ways. You’re right; those partnerships are crucial.

Heyyyyyy guys! Look who’s posting again… *gulps and ducks under the table* I know I’ve been sadly absent. Life. Eighteen. Schedules. Editing. Life again. You get it. 😛
This is actually not a question about writing specifically… but rather, I want to know what you guys think about mentorship. As in, finding a mentor who will help you along…[Read more]

@overcomer Oooh! Another YDubber! Greetings. 😉 Have you tried the Mentorship space on the community site? It is a new way to get an online mentor. Simply state what you write and what you are looking for in a mentor. If that is confusing feel free to PM me on the YWW-my name is Bethany Rose there too.
Hopefully the Lord will provide one for…[Read more] -

@Overcomer sort of-ish? (putting aside a dozen or more amazing writerly friends) I have two authors that have really helped me a lot and I met one of them through her books + my sisters loving them. And the other through just seeing her around the place.
Bethany had very good points. *nods* -

@overcomer, I don’t have a mentor per se. I am mostly self-taught when it comes to writing, however, there have been a lot of people who have given input into my writing and helped me grow. as @Bethanysinkyroses said, your mentor doesn’t have to be that much older than you, and they don’t even have to be published. Also, are you looking for an in…[Read more]

Hey @overcomer I have a writing mentor I met through an online writing program. (The Young Writer’s Workshop by Brett Harris and Jaquelle Crowe) Since I’m editing my first novella, I ask her questions related to that. She has traditionally and self published. One thing that helped me is knowing a mentor doesn’t have to be super far ahead of you.…[Read more]

I’ve not been on here much lately either.
I’m glad you like the blurbs. They are both for the same story. I think it’s deviated a little from there, but that’s still basically the story I’m trying to tell. It’s a good reminder to refocus it. I’ve gotten a bit bogged down in details.

Hey KeePers!
You should have gotten an email about this last night, but I just wanted to make sure everyone was aware of our fourth panel discussion that’s happening this upcoming Monday on self-publishing and writing.
In short, we have three self-published authors (Kim Vandel, Rachel Rittenhouse, and Jeannette DiLouie) who are going to be on…[Read more]

Aaand now that that’s over . . .
For the last week of the month of June, I’ll be posting random tips that might actually be useful (unlike my deconstruction of sub-genres) :). I’ll tag random people so they can follow this thread throughout the last week of Sci-Fi Month and (hopefully) read the sub-genre deconstructions that I posted earlier.…[Read more]

The novella is actually free, for now. So if any of you happen to enjoy reading, like me, and don’t have a bunch of money to spend on books…[Read more]

Hey people. *tips hat grinningly*
There’s this book I just read called Eats, Shoots and Leaves, by Lynn Truss. It’s non-fiction—about punctuation. But it’s not a long or dull read at all, and is funny and very informative/helpful. Especially for people like writers who’d use punctuation more than usual. 😉
The only objection would be: it has a…[Read more] - Load More
