@dekreel
My favorites are…
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (but I love the whole series)
The Fellowship of the Ring (but again, the whole series is awesome!!!)
Percy Jackson and the Olympians (I cannot choose just one book. They are all just. So. Good.)
The Penderwicks series (Love, love, love…[Read more] -

I don’t think there is a forum like this in here! Either that or I just haven’t looked thoroughly enough. That’s totally possible. 🙂
Anyway, what is/are your favorite book(s)?
Mine are:
All Things Bright and Beautiful by James Herriot
The Wingfeather Saga by Andrew Peterson (a series of four)
Night by Elie Wiesel
Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine…[Read more] -

@emma-flournoy Ah! All my friends say Les Mis is too long! I’m glad I found someone who likes it! I’m only halfway through the book, but I really like it so far!

@salome01w4g I agree with @emily – George Speare is great. I like her book The Bronze Bow.
I would also highly recommend James Herriot (I know you’ve read them, but anyone else who hasn’t should check him out!), Les Miserables by Victor Hugo, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith, and Night by Elie Wiesel. -

@dekreel This is a great poem. I love the tree’s voice.
There are definitely some parts that are awkward. I echo what @daughteroftheking said about the lineHow I long for a pool of water to the rim
And I also agree with @jane-maree about the dark mood. I felt like the tree was dying and in agony almost the whole time. Maybe turn his…[Read more]

@Dekreel to tone it down from being so dark, you could change the aspects of fear and horror/dismay that the tree feels, to a sense of confusion and curiosity. That would shift the mood from ‘scary’ to a much lighter feel.
A way to avoid so much of the human terminology you can use similes instead. Saying “I feel a great, pulsing joy in my heart”…[Read more]
