@Northerner Exactly, I know. 😛
Cool @Emily! We have quite a few violinists on here. Yep, I play piano too. You?
@Mariposa I can understand better about watermelon and coconut. I like them (and love coconut), but I can see how someone wouldn’t. Hardly so with mint. 😉
Whoo-hoo! *high-five* Yep, me too. I have a couple allies, but I’m for most…[Read more]

@Mariposa How could you hate mint. D: BUT if finding toothpaste is that much of a problem, just use baking soda. *nodnod* That’s what we use part of the time; baking soda with peppermint oil mixed in, but you could skip the oil. That would taste real good. *grimace*
Also, Thesaurus dinosaurs are a very good kind too.@Northerner Hey, my eyes are…[Read more]

@dragon-snapper I’m not stealing your idea, don’t worry. But yeah. On another thread. Probably.
@northerner Haha, cool. I can work with that.
@ethryndal …wow. That’s… how much BBC tv do you watch, anyway? *snorts* I can work with that.

So, I’ve been working on a tagline for my site, Writing in the Light. Well, it’s a tagline for me, really. Something I can put everywhere – on my blog, on my social media. Basically, something that sums up me and my writing very well. I came up with a line earlier that I really like:
Breathing hope into the blackest night.
It sums up what I…[Read more]

Widdrim replied to the topic Works cited page? in the forum General Writing Discussions 7 years, 3 months ago
Everything @Northerner and @perfectfifths said! It can also depend on what genre you’re writing, what kind of resources you use, how much research you do…
Historical: This genre usually has a lot of research to make it period accurate, so a lot of authors include works cited as a kind of… credentials? Proof they did their research and know…[Read more]

@Northerner and @perfectfifths
Okay thank you! I hate citing works (for some reason it’s hard for me) so that is a relief.
I think I’ll probably keep a list of books/websites for future reference thanks for the idea! -

I have a (probably dumb) question, so do you have to have a works cited page when writing a novel?
So I got this book from our library (18th century clothing by Bobbie Kalman) just to remind myself what a generally poor man or woman would wear during the latter part of that time period, is this something I would need to cite?Also thank you…[Read more]

You guys are the bestistest, you know that? XD
@Daeus
Those are really good thoughts on what Jesus suffered. And, great point: think it through. I will. In fact, I know where I’m gonna look first. I just finished reading through Hebrews the night before last, and I was blown away by how it laid out the reasons for why Jesus had to die on the…[Read more] -

‘Sup KeePers?
I has a question.
Just yesterday I had this crazy cool idea for an allegory, and I’m thinking about making it into either a short story or a small novella depending on how much gold I find at the bottom of the rubbish pile. 😛
But I’ve hit a head-scratcher already. (And I haven’t even had the idea for 24 hours. Oi.)How do you…[Read more]

@Salome01w4g lots of people use Ancestry for researching family history and I’ve heard its very good, though I haven’t actually used it myself. Other than that, @Northerner has some really good tips which I completely agree with. I’m not really up there in American history, is the Revolutionary War the war for independence from England? I have an…[Read more]

@Northerner first I had to go look up what anachronistic meant …. XD
about 4 chapters (well I’m in the fourth chapter) My Protagonist is preparing to leave for America, so I’m researching life on a British military ship and life in England at the very beginning of the war.
I’ll give a bit of a run down on what my story is likeA young woman…[Read more]

@northerner I like how you called me ‘The’ Dragon Snapper.
Question about the contact page, it says I need to add a comment. Will that go on the website, or will it simply be sent to you?
If you want, we can also exchange emails by KP’s email. Your email does not have to go on the site. (and now the word email is overused) 😛 - Load More
