@perfectfifths I don’t have an exact deadline, but if anyone could do it in about a week, that would be optimal.

@daeus 8,900 words? Do you have a deadline?

Mornin Gents and Gentesses,
I wrote a short story recently that I’d like to find some beta readers for.
It’s a slice of life story as well as inspiration fiction in the broad sense of the term and kiiindaa romance, depending on how you look at it.
Its length is 8,900 words.
Let me know if you are interested. 🙂

@catwing That sounds good. I plan on doing NaNo as well, but 59,000 words doesn’t sound like it’d take too long. *thinking, thinking…*
You know what, to be on the safe side, put me in with the second group for after November. 🙂 Our school holidays start mid-December and finish late in January, so that would give me plenty of time. 🙂

@catwing Yeah, I’m interested, but it depends if you have a specific time you want it done by, or just anytime. 🙂

@that_writer_girl_99 That’s what I’m confused about. This story is written in first person. You must be suggesting a different style within the boundaries of first person.

@perfectfifths Thanks 🙂
@dragon-snapper @that_writer_girl_99 I’m not sure I know what you mean. How would writing it from his POV be different? I thought I would write it diary style because he will only get to re-enter into the story on certain days.

@daeus Wow! That’s really cool! And a really interesting concept of how a minor background character only exists when the hero is interacting with him.
I’m officially intrigued. You should definitely continue this. 😀

Dear KeePers,
Two days ago, I was inspired to write a short story that at the time seemed like a brilliant idea. I wanted to write the diary of a character from a novel who struggles with his identity and the problem of evil.
The problem was, as I wrote the first entry last night, I felt like what was coming out was practically worthless. Having…[Read more]

@Ethryndal OH that makes sense too…yeah. Whenever I see fancy dresses in non-fantasy looking collages, I automatically think steam-punk because where else would dresses be worn? 😛 But no, that fits too.
Come to think of it, she’s only that evil 60% of the time.
I’m glad to hear it. 😂
She sounds seriously intriguing though.

@allison-grace I follow the system taught by K.M.Wieland. It’s excellent as many others on here will testify. She has written several books on the subject and she has a series of articles on her blog covering the subject as well.
In her system, there are 18 major plot points. I like to have all of these down before I start writing. On top of…[Read more]

@Ethryndal Ohh. Whoa. She looks to be a character all right. Vena LaVere? Right? The name FITS.
Is the genre steam-punk-y? That’s sorta what it feels like, with that dress and the bottle (be it filled with caustic wit or anything else). -

@xonos-darkgrate As far as the magic goes, I think it probably needs a bit more fleshing out with details, but as long as the power isn’t actually God’s power, but merely a separate power he created, I think you’re on the right track.
As for romance, it’s really up to you. It could be hard to write it without any experience and you do want to…[Read more]

Wow, it sounds like you’ve put a lot of thought into all this. I like how it sounds sort of darker and edgier, but still good (as in good is good and will triumph).

@xonos-darkgrate @daeus Maybe it’s that, the power is used by everyone, but depending on who you use it through and for if it’s light or dark or grey. It could be like praying, if you pray to God (the only one you’re supposed to pray to), or to idols or other things.

@xonos-darkgrate Good ideas. The one thing that confuses me is point 1. It sounds strange that Satan could manipulate God’s power. Maybe there’s there’s an outside force of power that God created and controls as a testing ground? I’m sure you’ll figure it all out.

@xonos-darkgrate This sounds intriguing! And those names are pretty good, except the twins’ names are very similar. That’s probably what you’re going for, of course, but personally I like it when twins don’t have similar names, it makes them seem more individual. But it’s up to you!
And while I don’t really have a problem with making fantasy…[Read more]
