One day, I hope to fly a million miles away. Where painful memories are far away, and the fresh beach breeze covers my dry skin. The sea would lap over me, tugging at my hair, and perhaps I would feel at home. The strangeness of my new world would comfort me from the horrors of the one past. I’d bring you with me if I could, but I’m not sure you would like it.
Blue sky and starry nights would remind me of the good left in this world. My feet would sink through the sand, soft and warm and peaceful. I’d feel the streets under my feet as I walked on in my journey, the journey to my home. I’d take you with me if I could, but I’m not sure I would like that.
Can you feel the sand under your feet, and see the stars in the sky? Does the breeze heal you, or does it bring your pain closer? Is the sand warm on your feet, or do you feel like you are sinking? The streets feel lonely here by myself. We’d go together if we could, but I’m not sure we could bear it.
I hope I find you in the mountains, where the snow will melt your pain. I hope the fire crackles loud, and its warmth never leaves you. I hope the storms roaring through the mountains remind you of your strength. I wish you’d want to take me with you, but you know I’m happy here.
I hope one day, if we find ourselves a million miles away, I’ll know you’ve found your home.
