@audrey-caylin Yes, @daeus and I like to be a sneaky tag-team like that. 😉 The video on Theme & Major Characters should be coming out by the end of this week.

@audrey-caylin Yes, Daeus and I like to be a sneaky tag-team like that. 😉 Like Daeus said, we’ll be covering that in our video on Theme & Major Characters which should be coming out by the end of this week.

@anna-brie That looks fantastic. I really like how both themes weave together there. Nice work!

Thanks so much for the suggestions y’all! You guys are the best. We’ll definitely add love interest & sidekick to the docket.
@dragon-snapper This is actually for our Youtube channel, not the Theme Mastery course. 🙂 Our first video here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_1B1zNr_X-g&t=3s) introduces what character types are, and we’ve actually…[Read more]

@hope Got it. Those story points make sense then.
With regards to the other question, I do agree that there are additional challenges when you don’t have physical conflicts like that. I think some of that will require a lot more deep-POV where you’re getting into the character’s head and really ferreting our his/her thoughts and where he/she is…[Read more]

Josiah DeGraaf replied to the topic ARCHIVED – Homework for Video 11: Scene to Story Structure in the forum Writing Assignments 9 years, 2 months ago
@audrey-caylin Got it. Sounds like this is one of those scenes that’s going to be a bit trickier to weave one of your themes into. Foreshadowing can be a great technique, though, so if you use it to foreshadow how her Experiments might fail, that could be a great way of weaving it in.

@Daeus *grins* Thanks…
And those sound absolutely adorable. I want one.

And I have easily a bazilliondy characters (not exaggerating), so if for whatever reason that doesn’t work, I can offer you more. 😛

@I-J-Anderson … did… did I understand this correctly? You want descriptions of characters so maybe they can inspire you and other ‘stuck’ artists to draw a portrait of them?
This is… I like this. This is unusual. But really cool.
Umkay… let me see. *scratches head* Assuming I’ve understood this correctly… have a character.

@Northerner all right, I see. Yes, we’re talking fantasy, and as I believe fantasy is only a representation of the reality of truth (to us; in our world) and that it should be a copy of our world in its moral laws and ruling powers (as those are what determine truth) I don’t necessarily like it when a fantasy world is governed by rules/laws whose…[Read more]

@Northerner you seemed to imply that as long as a witch was using her power for good (even if it was the same power a bad witch had) then the magic was good. Perhaps I misunderstood you?
-
Kate Flournoy replied to the topic Magic in the forum General Writing Discussions 9 years, 2 months ago
@Northerner I see your point… but I think the correctness of the moral foundation is more important than what the power’s used for. God may allow Darkness (how else would it still even exist? But that’s another discussion) but He does NOT condone it, and by its very definition it cannot be used for good. Out of the heart the mouth speaks. A…[Read more]

@Dragon-Snapper *bows* Any time… XD
Yeah, no, I get your point. And I definitely agree it shouldn’t be treated as ‘just another story element’. Just as being a prophet in the Old Testament was a grave responsibility and a mark of high honor from God, anyone entrusted with any sort of supernatural gift should not just ‘go whacko’ with it. 😉

Kate Flournoy replied to the topic Stereotype/Archetype Suggestions for KP Cinema? in the forum Film 9 years, 2 months ago
@Dragon-Snapper an archetype is basically the typical role any given character fulfills. Mentor. Hero. Dark Lord. A slot for a character that doesn’t really depend that much on the character himself, but what part the character plays in the story.

Kate Flournoy replied to the topic Magic in the forum General Writing Discussions 9 years, 2 months ago
@Dragon-Snapper I would disagree. The definitions are wrong. Sorcery in our world is demonic power, and since our fantasy worlds should be copies of God’s nature and God’s creation, sorcery should be bad in fantasy worlds as well. Spells and dark incantations and witches and the like should always be portrayed as bad. I do not think you…[Read more]
