@That_Writer_Girl_99 wow… has it really almost been a year? 😛 Time flies.
Hey, I happily take the credit for all those terrible (awesome) things if it means I helped you grow even the tiniest bit. Thank you. I’m glad. Keep going. 😉

Step #1: Post the FB page link here so we can follow you. 😀
Step #2: Make sure it’s linked on your blog, and possibly include a link to it in your welcome email sequence for new subscribers (assuming you have a mailing list).
Step #3: My personal approach has been to be posting writing or reading related statuses 4-5 days a week, and then as…[Read more]

@rochellaine Haha; I was worried for a moment that I should have recognized your name on here long ago. xD No; you’re fine. I remember who you are now, and I remember enjoying talking to you since there weren’t a bunch of people who stopped by the booth for extended periods of time at CHAP. Glad to know you ended up making it over to the forum. 🙂

@dekreel Wow; well, I got to say you captured the standard opening thread replies and what I do when meeting newbies on the forum. xD
@rochellaine Were you one of the people I met at the CHAP conference last summer? Trying to remember when and where we met since I’m terrible with names. 😛

Hey folks,
Looking for 5 or so beta students for a new mini course I’m creating on suspense. The course looks at how successful professional authors create suspense and explains how to create a suspense on a story level, on a chapter level, and on a paragraph level to keep readers turning the pages of your book.
All the lessons are written up;…[Read more]

@devastate-lasting super cool! Thanks for tagging me @Daeus.
The primary reason I use notebooks is so I can have something to jot notes in when I’m not at my computer, but this looks like an awesome program for organizing stuff, which I need lots of help with, 😛 so I’m going to check it out!

@Sam-Kowal ooh I really like it! Super cool concept. I think I’d definitely pick it up and read it.
On a more writerly note, the synopsis itself is well written, but it does seem a little choppy in places. It may simply be a case of too many fragments. Also, this is bugging me a little and it’s probably just me. But the voice is inconsistent……[Read more]

@Daeus looks great. The only thing I noticed is a typo at the very end— in the money back section, you said ‘every’ when you meant ‘ever’. Other than that, it’s lovely. 🙂

Josiah DeGraaf replied to the topic Homework for Video 3: Discovering & Deepening Theme in the forum Writing Assignments 6 years, 9 months ago
@jess-penrose Yes–that looks great! Depending on the plot/genre of your story, it may be interesting to also have an answer that you can lose your right to freedom if it’s for the greater good of society. (I’m thinking of times of crisis where citizens or soldiers may be coerced to do things because otherwise the nation may be overrun.) That sort…[Read more]

@jess-penrose It could… Drawing from your first answer, what about adjusting the focusing question to something like, “When can you lose your right to freedom?” and tweaking the alternate answers slightly. Approaching it from that angle doesn’t make the right answer seem quite as obvious (since you have criminals who break the law and…[Read more]
