@Leumeister welllll… should I say it?
*thinks*
No, better not. Think of an unrelated example.
*thinks again*
No…
Yes…
No…I’m gonna say it. 😛 I actually already had a story idea with this thematic premise. The hero and the villain both have the same goal— accomplishing world peace and ending all wars. The hero doesn’t know exactly how…[Read more]

@Daeus I feel really bad I didn’t remember that scene and warn you about it. I’m sorry.
@Sarah-H this just goes to show that different people can read the same book and be affected in completely different ways. That scene was so minor and unimportant to me it didn’t even stick with me five minutes. So it’s kinda difficult to lay down exact…[Read more]

@Leumeister you already do quite a bit of showing, and that’s great. But there were several instances where you told that could have been stronger through showing. It’s the difference between this line:
She sauntered over, still trying to display an air of authority, coming in closer to examine him.
and this line:
Pandora sighed, placing her…

Not at all, @Sarah-H. Writers ramble. It’s part of the job description. 😀
That’s a great question. As far as reading books with a bad worldview like that, in the end they’re just books and no one who reads them with their head screwed on straight and their eyes on Christ is gonna get burned. In fact, I read the IC at a point in my life when I…[Read more]

@Leumeister yes, excellent idea. That way the emphasis is not on the goal itself, but why the antagonists/protagonist should or should not deserve/accomplish it, based on the rightness of their worldview.
Also a very good point, @Anna-Brie. I agree.

@PerfectFifths yes, I had loads of fun teaching myself all the different old fonts I could find… in fact I probably should have learned the basics first, but I wanted to learn those other fonts so badly I plunged right into the advanced styles and mastered the basics on the way. 😛 I especially like the Gothic font— the one used most in old…[Read more]

@PerfectFifths I am so jealous… 😛 I actually taught myself calligraphy simply because I loved the font Tolkien uses for his maps so much I wanted to make maps the same way. XD

@PerfectFifths yesssssss. I love maps. Both drawing and looking at them. It’s my dream to have my own ‘office/study’ with the walls simply covered in maps. 😀

@dragon-snapper Thank you for the helpful questions.
@sierra-r & @kate-flournoy & @emma-flournoy Don’t stress. Children stories are hard. (And yes, there is a deadline, but not till Feb.)

@Leumeister ever painted textures on 3D models? Nope. Probably because I’m extremely uncivilized and disorganized and prefer going free-hand with everything. XD
And yes, Emma and I are sisters.

@Leumeister I like it! It’s got the bones of a great story. One thing I would say is you tend to tell sometimes where you should show. For instance,
She sauntered over, still trying to display an air of authority, coming in closer to examine him.
is pretty good, but it would be stronger if you simply described what she did and gave us the…[Read more]

Oh dear… children’s stories are NOT my area of expertise. I’ll let you know if I think of anything, but most of my ideas are ridiculously hard to simplify into something like that. 😛

Hey guys. I have found it very hard to come up with an idea for a child’s book. The idea needs to be about “real” people doing “real” things – no witches, wizards, ghosts, goblins, fairies or
their ilk. Stories about animals are fine; stories with talking animals are not. the story must be 500-1500 words in length and aimed at 5-8 year olds.…[Read more] -
