@sara-h Well, Kate’s right, the book was a thematic flop. Not that I think it’s harmless. He does use a little bit of subtlety with his situational ethics which might trip up someone who’s not very used to the tricks of expressing worldview
I think you were specifically asking about magic though. Well, to start off, his magic system in the book…[Read more]

Ah yeah, I see. 🙂 What kind of goals do you think they could be?

@clairec: Yep, Perth area, but I’m not going to get any more specific than that. 😉 Also, my bro and I LOVE Studio C! We haven’t been anywhere else in Australia, unfortunately, but we have been to the States for Christmas in 2004 (my Dad’s American)
@anna-brie: Thank you! I only wish some of the other Aussies lived closer by! 😀 Yes, I did…[Read more]

Not at all, @Sarah-H. Writers ramble. It’s part of the job description. 😀
That’s a great question. As far as reading books with a bad worldview like that, in the end they’re just books and no one who reads them with their head screwed on straight and their eyes on Christ is gonna get burned. In fact, I read the IC at a point in my life when I…[Read more]

@Leumeister yes, excellent idea. That way the emphasis is not on the goal itself, but why the antagonists/protagonist should or should not deserve/accomplish it, based on the rightness of their worldview.
Also a very good point, @Anna-Brie. I agree.

Here’s an idea. What if the protagonist and the antagonist are working for the same or a similar goal?

@sarah-h: Thank you! That is so encouraging! I’ve always felt there’s not enough Christian fiction (namely fantasy, which is a lot of the time so dark and evil), especially for young adults/teens, and instead of sitting around mulling about it, I wanted to do something! It looks like everyone on here has the same idea, and it’s wonderful that so…[Read more]

I don’t think she thinks of selling everything… 😛 I just thought, since she’s financially hard-pressed at that point, she may want to take advantage of the situation. But then again she does intend to sell….well, you’ll see… 😉
Thanks for the critiques! 😀

@daeus That’s great! Glad you’re making progress. I wrote part of a description for a new children’s story I’m planning as well as a page of technicalities. It’s a work in progress, but I think my planning muse decided to come home.

I wouldn’t say that’s uncivilized. Just a different area of expertise. 😛 If you like doing digital art, though, it may be easy to paint textures onto UV layouts… Now I suppose I must explain what UV layouts are! XD
They’re basically a flattened out version of a 3D mesh. Like a net. Have you ever seen a net of a cube? It looks…[Read more]
