@that_writer_girl_99 @dragon-snapper I’ll join you. I’ll be plotting. How to take over the world, of course.

@that_writer_girl_99 *pats you on the back* Don’t worry, its very helpful in the end. (or at least, I think it is)

@that_writer_girl_99 For my first novel, I managed not to do so, but now I’m falling into that black hole and being turned into spaghetti. Why can’t words be perfect the first time?

@that_writer_girl_99 I should probably do the same. -

@f5a8c3e92 I’m coming! Haven’t had time to do this yet.
But now that I’m here, I have something really helpful to say: what everyone else said. *sheepish grin* I know, that’s resounding, but there you have it. Most of what everyone else said I was thinking too, especially concerning the info-dump-ishness of the stuff about her having lived with…[Read more] -

@f5a8c3e92 yeah…I’m shamefully addicted to The Flash, Arrow, and Supergirl. The only one of the CW superhero shows I don’t really follow along with is Legends of Tomorrow, I enjoy the concept but I actually dislike many of the main characters *coughs in disgust* Sara Lance *cough* Thank God she’s not on Arrow anymore *cough* Anyway…Except for…[Read more]

@Northerner *chains the bear up* ‘e won’t get out for some time yet. Now go forth and conquer.
(Btw, @Kate-Flournoy just almost lost that stuff, but we were able to fix it in time. After great stomachache. Otherwise…*coughcough* her computer might have suffered great damage from a certain being.) -

@emma-flournoy, Haha! I guess she does, well Cress is kinda supposed to represent myself in a way so I guess it works. 😀

@Christi-Eaton That’s an amazing drawing, but what I really noticed is how much the face looks like yours. Seeing it right next to your profile pic…the resemblance is striking. Other than that she’s not smiling, but if she were I think it would almost match perfectly.

@f5a8c3e92 YES. Much better. *thumbs up* Notice how the details ground you.
And I think it would be really cool for that to be part of Maya’s dream. Go for it. 😀 -

@jenali That’s awesome to hear that the lesson was able to help you get over that fear! I do think that explicitly-Christian fiction can be harder than writing non-explicitly Christian fiction (because you now have a second element of what it means to live as a Christian), but I think it’s definitely a challenge that can be conquered with…[Read more]

Josiah DeGraaf replied to the topic Homework for Video 17: Multiple Themes in the forum Writing Assignments 9 years, 5 months ago
@jenali Good combo. Acceptance is a unique theme to have. What would you say the focusing question is for that theme?
The story actually sounds a bit more like Method #2 to me, since the major and minor themes are providing part of the answer to the primary theme of leadership. Unless I’m misunderstanding what you’re saying? -
Josiah DeGraaf replied to the topic Discussion for Video Sixteen: Theme & Minor Characters in the forum Discussion Questions 9 years, 5 months ago
@jenali That sounds great! Doing foils with a theme of friendship can be especially interesting because then the two characters’ foil relationship with each other becomes an aspect of the actual theme (friendship), and the reader can see how both characters treat the same friendship differently. Good choice.
