@graciegirl Yep–been there, done that myself! And I agree. Sometimes you can get away with stories that have little meaning if the story itself is really well-executed (Force Awakens would fall into that camp for me), but even then, it only works because it has some meaning, and 9 times out of 10, the story would be improved if themes were more…[Read more]

Hey guys, I have a prayer request. An older man my brother works with recently had a stroke, and it looks like he’s not going to make it. I don’t know the details, but I think part of his skull had to be removed and it messed with his brain, causing significant damage. He’s in a coma now. He is not a Christian. If you all could pray that he will…[Read more]

Hi @Mariposa! *wrings your hand vigorously* Nice to meet you and your dinosaur. And yes to the Creation scientist stuff!! We’re of the same mind. 😀 Ever been to the Creation Museum in Kentucky? With several loud moving dinosaurs in the lobby?

@Mark-Kamibaya I feel honored. 😛
That’s pretty cool stuff, but I am so busy right now I’ve hardly even had time to get on KP. Oh well. So, y’all have a good discussion. *bobs off*

@Mariposa welcome to the Kingdom! 😀 😀 😀 Dinosaurs are fascinating. I prefer dragons myself (as you can see, I am one. 😉 ) but dinosaurs are the next best thing.
And your art is really good. What medium do you use? -

@sleepwalkingmk Looks like you’re at the right place then if that’s your goal. 😉 Being able to spot it in books is a great first step. That should help you make a lot of good connections as you move through the course and can compare what you learn here to what you’ve seen in those books.

Welcome to the site @mariposa! Awesome artwork. :O And I love the Spurgeon quotes. Are you still working on that second dinosaur book or are you already planning your next work?

@dragon-snapper I’ve heard about it. Is there a trailer yet? I have mixed feelings about the books, but I want to see the movie if they do it well.

@mark-kamibaya Thanks for putting this together!
“The literature of the human species encountering change.” I see why this caught your eye. I never considered Sci-Fi that way. Really, I always thought it was a fiction of technology and extraordinary things. Star wars kind of thing, if you know what I mean. 😛
But certainly, just writing s…[Read more] -

@Mark-Kamibaya I know. 😛 One tiny bit over the limit and my brain is guaranteed to be fried for the rest of the day. XD
Hey, it’s all good. It wasn’t irritating; or if it was I didn’t notice. I’m not thin-skinned enough to be irritated by other people’s strongly stated opinions. 😉 Perhaps I should be more sensible of that… 😛

Some Christian sci-fi books I can personally recommend are The Robot Wars series by Sigmund Brouwer, and Cloak of the Light by Chuck Black.
I don’t really have any tips that I can think of, @emily-d …
