@anne-of-lothlorien My mountain is entirely made up of melted phones. It’s growing every time I hop in the writers corner.

But if they charge that much, your treasure will soon be depleted. Unless you melt phones enough so that the insurance you get paid is higher in amount. @dragon-snapper

Ok, my top recommendations are these:
The Count of Monte Cristo — my all time favorite novel. It’s huge, but well worth every page. It’s historical fiction and high drama.
Cry The Beloved Country — The best explicitly Christian novel I’ve ever read. It’s very deep and very moving. It’s got heart for sure.
A Tale of Two Cities –…[Read more]

@anne-of-lothlorien Don’t worry. They have insurance for it… It cost about 1,000,000 dollars each month. 😀 (the company usually thinks that only dragons need it, and so they charge that much because dragons have hoards of gold.)

Yeah, he would. I’m actually reading that soon myself. I think. Currently I am working on a book about five hundred pages long, called Ishamel. If you like stories without a lot of action, just stories about life, you’ll like this. Then there’s the sequal, Self Raised, which is probably four hundred pages long. So my slate is filled for another week.

@dragon-snapper The only hesitation I shall have about getting a phone when I’m older is you melting it.

@lifeofkatie
Umm….
The Ranger’s Apprentice by John Flanagan is a medieval fantasy. (not sure if you’ve read that)
In Search of Honor by Donnalynn Hess is about the French Revolution
Ummm…
Johnny Tremain by Elizabeth Forbes
I’m sure if you asked @daeus he’d have you read the Count of Monte Crisco. -

@leumeister That… would be a really cool idea. I love it, but I don’t know if my brother would, knowing his personality. I’ll ask him.

@leumeister Huh, I always pronounced it Leemuster for some reason. Probably one of those words you mis-pronounce at the very beginning and never bother changing the way you do. So is it loomyster then?
Totally understand not giving out your name in public. I think a few people know my real name on here, but other than that, I’m a total anonymity.…[Read more] -

@anne-of-lothlorien 😐 … Code of honor, of course *glancing back at a pile of melting chairs and phones*

@dragon-snapper Well, I did leave some book suggestions for her. Four. I’m just looking forward to other people’s recommendations.
Would a dragon not do that due to her code of honor, or the fact that her talons are too big to press the laptop keys? -

@anne-of-lothlorien *gasp* How selfish! Why, the most humble dragon on earth would never do that!

You know you’re a writer when you get excited because someone started a book recommendations thread for their own use but you’re going to use all the suggestions for yourself.

You have to email @spradlin (the KP email, I think, not sure though) and ask her to forward to the people you want to send to. That way you get each other’s emails without giving away on the interwebz 😛

Hello everybody tagged below!
I’ve got a bunch of unfinished drafts of stories (plus the finished draft for the Pilot for Aquila) and I was wondering if any of you would like to alpha-read some of them (and, perhaps, beta-read the finished draft). I need input on what I’m working on because I’ve got some stories I’m stuck on.
So, for those of…[Read more]

Here’s an idea. What if we change the snake to an angel? Maybe?

@anne-of-lothlorien Older, though two people now have thought he was younger (weird… XD)
Ooh, that’s a great idea. How can you not be suing talking animals when you can have scenes like that??
Another idea (feel free to poo-poo it completely 😉 ) what if she doesn’t know (at least at first) it’s an anaconda, she’s just hearing its voice and…[Read more]

It’s my online alias. It’s a clever (I think) modification of my real name, which I am not prepared to share on a publically accessible website. 😛 You pronounce the Leu part of my name like you pronounce the Leu in Leukocyte or Leukemia. It used to be Lee-oo, then Lay-oo, now it’s just Lou. 😛
