You said cheesecake on purpose. *scowls*
That aside… EVERYTHING IS AWESOME. You already know what I think of this story so I won’t do a full meltdown here. But guys, Beauty and the Beast is my favorite fairytale, and this is just… I love it so much. You should definitely read it.

@The-Happy-Bookaholic Confession… I’m not on here as much as I’d like either, due to work and time, so I’m not terribly sure who is all active. I picked the names I recognized as friends from when I used to be on here more. 🙂

@aratrea Emolas’s EiL is love, same as Lotch, but unlike her, he actually knows it. She sort of lives it without realizing.
Yeah, I was afraid of that. I still don’t think ‘God’s Gifts’ is quite right, but I’m having trouble figuring out what else to call it. And Sley is FAR from being finished.

@That_Writer_Girl_99 I would just like to say, it makes me extremely happy to know that I inspired you to attempt reading LotR, even if you didn’t like it. (Quite frankly, I don’t blame you. That book can be super boring sometimes. You should try the Silmarillion. *buries face in pillow and groans*) Anyway. 😀

@Leumeister Well, they’d probably be good. 😀
@Ethryndal *brandishes red sword with maniacal cackling* Muahahahaha.
BUT actually, it’s punctuation. Not grammar. Big difference. 😉 Grammar deals with the words and sentence structure and stuff…punctuation is that group of little black marks that make holes all over the page. *solemn nod* But…[Read more] -

@Leumeister *facepalm* Seriously? *headdesk* Well. That or ENFP was what I initially thought, but then I thought, nah, his sister’s an INFP. Surely two siblings close in age (at least I assumed you’re close in age) wouldn’t both be INFPs. I had no logical analysis for basing that on, I just for some reason thought it unlikely. *sheepish grin*…[Read more]

@DelightinLife everything @Daeus said. 😛
I will add that you probably shouldn’t worry too much about developing your own voice, because it will develop by itself as you grow in confidence and knowledge. Especially if you focus in on the more nitty gritty aspects of writing, like the prose itself— what makes prose delightful and engaging; what…[Read more]

Ethryndal replied to the topic Style & Voice in the forum General Writing Discussions 9 years, 2 months ago
@delightinlife I think Style is just a broader sense of Voice. Voice is the personality behind the writing, and Style is the form used to broadcast that personality. Styles are like simplistic, or dark, or poetic, and within those styles, the writer has their voice, which makes the broad style more personal.

Awwww! Well, I was worried that maybe I’d missed something whilst reading the books as a younger reader, but sadly…no. They were as boring to me as ever. I tried 🙂
What, you didn’t enjoy reading about Tom Bombadil’s lengthy and completely pointless existence? 😉
