That seems rather straightforward, haha. I think it’s the expanding thing I have a problem with–coming up with interesting things to sprinkle into the scene, coming up with dialogue, and all that.

I’ve never been great with travel scenes, either. They tend to be rather boring…

I think there’s a fine line between deciding to let a character get away with his actions–in spite of what he does to get revenge–and crafting a path for the character that shows the consequences for revenge.
