I think murderer could work as long as he said Like murderer, or almost was a murderer. If you want him to say something that he is, he could think of himself as a monster or wild beast. I know! They both like horses, are sentimental, and are separated from their fathers at some point, who they both care for. When I put them together, they just seem to get along really well.
