@daeus @kate-flournoy @graciegirl @ethryndal @winter-rose @overcomer @the-bean @hope @all the random peoples that I can or can’t think of. 😀
And now, I write/plan/do this theme homework. 😛 -

@graciegirl That’s a neat idea! I think I’ll make a list too! I happen to use ‘A’s A LOT as well, though in my more recent story it’s E. Hmm… Maybe for sci-fi the letter will be E and for fantasy the letter will be A…interesting.
Carlos, you monster! … Myeah, I think that Zlorom works better for that line. 😛
@ethryndal Eeyore. That sounds…[Read more] -

@aratrea Ah, okay. I think I’m getting now. Thank you!

@ethryndal That’s awesome. Like I said to Audrey, it’s awesome to have role models you see and interact with on a regular basis–especially when they have to overcome struggles like chronic health problems. Great example!

@dragon-snapper Certainly! Here are three different answers I came up with.
– Pride is simply a way of recognizing your strengths and helps you build a confident persona.
– Internal pride doesn’t affect someone as long as they make sure they don’t act pridefully toward others.
– Pride is always destructive and will ruin all your relationships in life. -

@jenali Haha, that’s great you’ve already been applying this to characters. Putting characters in a position where they can see the harms their actions are causing is a great way to induce change.

@jenali Yes; that is the unfortunate truth about what happens when you learn new concepts in the middle of the writing process!
The character arc outline here looks good. I like the fact that you included an example of someone he can look up to in the midpoint arc. Using other characters as examples is a great method of bringing about change, and…[Read more]

@jenali Great thoughts. I love your example of you and your siblings, because it’s definitely true! The people we spend a lot of time with have the ability to influence us a lot.

@graciegirl I organize things so that I can find them, but if it tells you anything, I reorganize so much, that I can never find anything. 😛

@aratrea Well…I’m stuck here… What does pride do to a man anyway? I have multiple themes, but do mind helping me out with this first one so I can get the gist of it?

@ethryndal I actually have done some watercolor, and I did find it fun.
Yes, I do organize my books tallest to shortest. There’s no other way to do it. 😛
However, I don’t tend to iron people’s cloths…and I’m too lazy to keep up with my shoes. 😀
Have you seen the Lego movie? Sometimes I feel like Lord Business. 😛 -

@ethryndal Poor dishcloths. I’ve tried doing less detailed drawings, and they always end up looking terrible. 😛 However, I am a perfectionist in everything else. The birthday ribbons need to be in a perfect pattern. Library books also must be in perfect order, organized. My music playlists are all organized alphabetically… (I have nearly a…[Read more]

@jenali Well, if you use the ‘R’s as Gandalf does, then it can be a villain sounding name. I guess it does depend on how one says it. @ethryndal
Huh…I never veer to one letter over the other, but I do tend to be very picky in my names. It can take me more than an hour just to find a suiting name for a character, and lots of internets searching. 😛 -

@ethryndal Hah, are you a perfectionist too? Whenever I try sketching, I always hop straight to the details.

So, what about hero’s names? What do you guys think would go into a hero’s naming? (letters and sounds and such) (Ah, the English language) 😛
I particularly think that L is a good hero letter, but what else? -
Josiah DeGraaf replied to the topic Homework for Video 5: Character Arc in the forum Writing Assignments 9 years, 6 months ago
@jenali Looks like a good basic setup there that you’ll be able to develop after video 6.
Haha, yeah, that’s a tricky issue. We’ll be addressing that more in a couple videos later on in the course–one on writing non-protagonist major characters, and one on weaving multiple themes together into one story. I will say that it normally works best…[Read more]
