I am writing a novel called “The Fantastical Journey of Gavryn Wickert.” I started it five months ago and it has reached 25,000 words. I think I’m about halfway and I want to finish by May 1st. In the book, Gavryn journeys to another world and meets several people and has several battles and sees several strange creatures and… novel things. One small part of the story is going to be posted with a crituque soon! If there’s anything you wonder about the story or about me or my writing, just reach out and ask!
Yes— one thing @levipierpont. How on earth did you come up with the fantastic name Gavryn Wickert?!? It’s amazing! 😀
Wow, thanks! Um… So, the first name was obviously a mix. I wanted it to sound slightly futuristic, so I thought… If one of these random toddlers named Gavin running around grew up, might they name their kid GavRYN? So I thought it was a good idea.
Last name: I love the syllable Wick (or Wic, wicc, wik, and such). One month while I was putting together his name, I went to a conference with a speaker named Dan Wickert (http://www.faithlafayette.org/church/about_us/church-leadership/church-bios/dan_wickert) and I went “that’s perfect.”
I think that’s a really neat story and I’m glad you think it’s a great name. I can send you the Google Doc if you’d like to read it. It’s around 28,000 words at this point.
Wow— I’d love to, but I’m afraid I’ll have to decline. 🙁 My schedule won’t allow it. Thanks for the offer, though! 🙂 That’s really cool about the name— names are one of my passions, so I always enjoy learning where they came from and what they mean. 🙂
Ditto kate. 😛
