My magic systems are usually explained as a gift given by God (whatever he’s called in that universe) to the creature in question. Sometimes they end up misusing it, but I try to stray away from anything really dark.

Berryheart is Sunbeam’s mother and has quite a role in the series–borderline antagonist in fact. Sunbeam’s father is Sparrowtail

Frostpaw was Jayclaw and Curlfeather’s kit and is becoming a medicine cat.
