@joy I’d say to go with the first one, mainly because I’ve heard of a lot of literature where the king has to ‘go on the run’. The first one, to me, sounds more original, and interesting. 😀

@joy Both of those ideas are really solid, its hard for me to say which one I think would be better
I agree, you should write whichever one you like more- but I know with me, most of the time I’m not sure which route to go when I have a decision to make about the story
I would probably go with the second one, though, if I thought about it for…[Read more]

Yay @joy  !
That’s really good, and even if you don’t feel like celebrating, you made an achievement! Yay! *thumbs up*

@daughteroftheking @joy @catwing so, I realised just then that i kind of abandoned this thread and I feel guilty.
So here I am! How’s your novels going?
Also Joy, I’m sure it counts. The aim of Nano isnt to write 30k in order, just to write them. As long as they’reall from the same book, I think its fine.

@daughteroftheking It is tricky. The computer coding I’m playing with is Scratch, which is an online coding language/website. It’s free. (Did I say that already?) *scratches a chair* You can drag and drop the code pieces and edit them a bit. It’s easier than normal coding. 🙂
@joy I think I could… At least if they’re part of the same book. But…[Read more] -

@joy @daughteroftheking I’m a snail too! I only have a total of 5,000 words! Better than the year before last where I only wrote two chapters. Snail party! *attempts to fly lowly* *falls down* Ouch. So that’s way snail can’t fly…

@Joy I wanted to it last year too. But… life. And stuff. 😉
@nicholerivers03 WELCOME!!! *shakes your hand vigorously* Glad you could join us on the crazy forums. I’m probably not the best person to explain it, but NaNoWriMo is a writing challenge where you set a word count goal for the month of November, and write every day. If you achieve your…[Read more]

@joy Hey there! I’m so glad I found someone else who isn’t zooming along. (If you don’t mind my saying that) I am creeping along the floor when compared to everyone else. I’m a snail. XD But a happy snail, because I found you! I was too tired to write much for a couple days, and I suffered for it. It’s not getting any easier, and my inner editor…[Read more]

Hey there girls!
Question: Have any of you read/listened to any book (s) by Chuck Black or Sigmund Brouwer? 🙂

@joy NaNoWriMo is a great opportunity to make yourself write. It gives you a goal and a concentrates time to write in. I was surprised by what I was capable of last year. I highly recommend it–especially if you take the time to plot your book out ahead of time, which is an excellent exercise.
When I first started doing NaNo, I was in middle…[Read more] -

@dragon-snapper Hey! WOW that sounds totally epic! I might check it out. Thanks for letting me know. 🙂
Also, have any of you used the writing software by K. M. Weiland? She’s based it off her Outlining Your Novel Workbook… it looks sooooooooooo good. There’s a video on this page:…[Read more]

@joy I’m doing it! My first time was last year, and I only got to 31,000-something words, but it was a big accomplishment for me! It was how I was able to complete a 17,000-something-word novelette. Your novel sounds really great!
This year my story is sci-fi, which is a new genre for me as well. I’ve been plotting it since late August, and…[Read more]

@joy @Tatiana I’m planning on doing NaNo. I’ve done both the camps this year, but I’ve never done the official. both of your stories sound really interesting!! I’m working on a dystopian, which is another thing I’ve never done before.

@joy That sounds so cool! I also love fantasy novels 🙂
My novel is set in a parallel universe and it’s basically about a young female president who discovers that someone in the government uncovered some less-than secrets from the president before her (who happened to be her older brother), which could stain her reputation. She sends one of her…[Read more]

@joy I’M DOING IT! I’m really excited to try it again this year, because it’s never… really worked out for me in past years 😛
I’m a reforming pantster, so I don’t really have any tips except get started on your plotting early XD
What genre is your novel and what will it be about?

@joy Reading more widely should help you with writing stories with different themes.
As for the lessons your characters learn and the obstacles in their way, both of those lists seems good to me. I do, however, think that adding more obstacles could help make your story different. For instance, could there be a competitive suitor? Or maybe the…[Read more]

@joy First of all, I’m going to say something unusual.
If you can give up on writing, do so. Fiction writing is literally the worst type of work ever. Only an idiot would be a writer. Now, if you’re reading this and going, “Noooooo! Don’t say that. *tears* I can’t stop!” — if that’s the case, then please, please, please keep writing. If I can’t…[Read more]
