@aislinn-mollisong It’s from an old latin medical book and people just use it for filler.

@kate-flournoy Ah, okay. Here are two more examples then.
Don’t ask me why the lines on #1 are short. I designed them a little longer.

Daeus here— I just took one of your templates and put rough lines where I was talking about. If you shrink the text inside those lines, it makes it very neat and tidy and leaves clean, empty edges to frame the quote and make it look complete.

@lifeofkatie Do you have an example of what you’re talking about. I can’t quite imagine it.
And, sure, I’d be interested to know what programs you use.
@kate-flournoy I’m not exactly sure what you mean. :/
I’m using Canva.
I did experiment with a border like you were talking about. Here are three designs. None of them are amazing, but I think…[Read more]

@Catwing I’m so proud of my scales. *examines her arms in smug satisfaction*
All the puns on people’s names tho… and inside jokes… XD I love KP Literature.

@His-Instrument Got it.

You know what, maybe you could just put two straight and fairly defined black lines down the sides of the one you fixed, about half an inch from the edge.

@Daeus hm… better-ish? I like the first re-do, but it isn’t perfect. What program are you using to put these together? Because putting in white boxes is like… as basic as the abcs…

I guess I could do something like this:Â

@kate-flournoy Okay, here’s what that could look like with a border. The problem with borders is that I can’t find any that are adjustable, so I have to find one that’s just the right size and look. Looking at this, I think it would look better with a border that encompassed the whole lower half. I could get a different banner/plate for the top…[Read more]

@kate-flournoy True. I was going to do something like that, but I couldn’t figure out how, so…I didn’t do anything like that. 😛
But I can do some sort of border. I’ll play with it.

@Daeus whooo, my eyes are crossing. 😛
None of these are particularly amazing in my very humble opinion, though I do think the second has potential. The biggest problem is the composition— there are no lines to define where graphic meets text, or to organize the whole thing for us so our eyes have to do as little bouncing around as…[Read more]

@introvert_girl @lifeofkatie @seekjustice @kate-flournoy
Okay, unless anybody think’s it’s a terrible idea, I’m planning to use this for a writing school I’m launching this coming year.
My general impression of Pinterest leads me to think that quotes are good to post there, so I thought I’d do some short writing tip graphics. To make it easy on…[Read more]

@his-instrument Another option is to add in an extra prologue or chapter in the beginning that has a very different tone just to give the reader something positive to latch onto.

@dekreel One thing I noticed is that most of your sentences are very similar in length. It would help to vary that up a bit. Have some run-on sentences and some normal and some very short.

@Aratrea Just because I’m wondering, is that side-line bar thing of most recent forum topics/replies gone forever? *mournful blink* It was incredibly helpful and I just wondered. I know there’s the the recent forum topics page, but that’s not the same as just having the current threads right for you on the side of whatever page you may be on.
Or,…[Read more]-
Unfortunately that plugin was one of the plugins that broke the site a couple weeks ago. >.> Hence why it was taken down.
Eventually we’d like to get that back up, but that requires a lot of behind-the-scenes web work to fix that and allow for other features, and that web work will take a while to accomplish.

Ahh… That’s too bad.
Heh, I don’t doubt it! Well, it’s seriously admirable all the stuff you guys do to keep this place in tip-top shape and most user-friendly possible. We appreciate it. 😉
Thanks!
