Greetings back atcha, @Dekreel! Welcome to the bestistest place on the internet. 😀 Cool! What poem was that?
What genre do you write? What’s your favorite book, if you can choose one? What kind of music do you like? -

You know you’re a writer when you’re decided whether you want to include someone’s backstory or not, and decide to do so not because it’s fun to write, but because it’s heart wrenching and when you say so, your sister says only this, “Sigh.”

@jess What Kate said. Basically, either the loss your character experiences needs to be necessary for them to become a better person or the ending is just plain tragic, but a side character learns something valuable from it and the readers are left with a lot of hope for that side character.

@Jess lovely topic. I have a lot of thoughts on unhappy endings, but I haven’t got time to consolidate them all now, so I’ll just leave you with the biggest two.
The first is the concept of catharsis. The reader must be satisfied in some way or other. The reader must feel that something was gained; that the world is somehow better as they leave…[Read more]

@perfectfifths
Content. No language. No sex. Violence: a general description of Aztec sacrifices. Description is not graphic, but if just the idea of human sacrifices makes you sick, then you could have problems with it. One guy has a vision in which he is lacerating himself, though there is not a lot of detail in that part.Otherwise, this book…[Read more]

@salome01w4g I don’t have a maximum deadline. A week is just my preferred deadline. Within two weeks is not unreasonable to me. However, if I happen to get a lot of volunteers, I would naturally prefer those who can get it done within a week.

@perfectfifths I don’t have an exact deadline, but if anyone could do it in about a week, that would be optimal.

Mornin Gents and Gentesses,
I wrote a short story recently that I’d like to find some beta readers for.
It’s a slice of life story as well as inspiration fiction in the broad sense of the term and kiiindaa romance, depending on how you look at it.
Its length is 8,900 words.
Let me know if you are interested. 🙂

@Catwing No dragon hoard? …Well, for those poor dragons of the lesser class *inspects talons* they usually spend their time lazily sleeping as you said. Doing nothing. There’s a reason they have no gold.
-
Snapper replied to the topic Writers' Corner #9 in the forum General Writing Discussions 8 years, 8 months ago
@catwing That could work. Dragons like to pretend they know a lot, be we really just count our gold for centuries. Not that it gets boring or anything.

Perhaps because the fact that they are cold-blooded helps them not to burn up while breathing fire in the first place. Or maybe because they drink hot-sauce…*shrugs*
I’m editing, then I’ll be evilly plotting. -

@Catwing I would love to help out, (here comes the ‘but’) but I’m about to be participating in NaNoWriMo in November so I won’t have time to do anything during that month (because I also have another manuscript that I still have 100k left to edit/critique). HOWEVER, depending on your deadline and the length of your novel I might be able to fit it…[Read more]
