Kate walked over and picked up the glowing sword. She examined it curiously for a moment, trying to figure out how to turn it off.  Finally, she twisted something and the blade disappeared. She stowed the handle in a pouch at her belt.

Well, a hurt pride is better than a hurt Nahim.

In fact, probably better than an unhurt Nahim.

“He knocked himself out,” said Ellis. “We were trying to get him to rest after his injuries. He didn’t like that. He tried to fight us, and he passed out.” He looked around the room. “Oh, and Kate destroyed your table. On accident.”

Nahim’s headache is going to feel sooo much better after this.

Well, he got off better than if Kate had had to blast him into the wall.

“Trouble with Nahim,” Ellis told Fennin. “But don’t worry, we handled it. You didn’t even need to get involved this time!”

“No!” shouted Ellis. He was more than a little annoyed by all of this. “You’re going to go rest!”

“Well?” he demanded. “Are we done here?”

Ellis didn’t much want to obey, but just in case, he rolled to the side, off of Nahim, pointing his sword at the latter’s head.

Kate

Terrified by Nora’s apparent panic, Kate seized the gemstone she had threatened Zahlin with and crushed it, aiming her hand at Nahim. Red energy coursed around her arm.

Kate compressed the Arclash again and infused it into a gemstone again as Ellis and Nora pinned Nahim down.

Ellis panted hard. “Now,” he said. “Somebody get me that rope!”

Ellis

Nahim kicked Ellis in the leg. Ellis dropped down to one knee but kept hold of Nahim’s arm. He aimed a Conviction-empowered kick at Nahim’s leg, knocking it out from under him. At the same time, Kate pulled on the Arclash, and Nahim stumbled forward.
