Kate bit her lip. She didn’t really want to shake this strange girl’s hand, but she wasn’t going to get any answers if she annoyed them.

Grudgingly she shook Violet’s hand.

“Kate,” said Kate tersely, shifting the sword under her leg.

Kate had no idea what “truth or dare” was, but if it had “truth” in the name, it might be a good way to get some answers out of these people.

She walked silently over and sat down, but not near enough that anyone could reach her. She removed her sword’s sheath from her back and set it on the ground.

”Don’t think I’m bluffing,” Ellis said as Flaz left, “If you value your life, you will stay away.”

With that, Ellis walked over to his bed. He paused, then hewed off the top few rings with his sword and jumped lightly up.

Ellis grabbed Flaz by the collar and stared him in the eyes. “Listen up,” he said, voice dangerously low, “I’m getting back in bed, and if you try anything like this again, my instincts are going to kick in so fast that you’ll be dead before I open my eyes. Understand?”

”They should have given us three rooms,” Ellis muttered.

Ellis wrenched the pillow out of Leon’s hand and threw it into the wall. “I can’t believe we’ve been kidnapped and are being forced into a war, and that I have to deal with this nonsense!”
