@jenali That’s awesome to hear that the lesson was able to help you get over that fear! I do think that explicitly-Christian fiction can be harder than writing non-explicitly Christian fiction (because you now have a second element of what it means to live as a Christian), but I think it’s definitely a challenge that can be conquered with…[Read more]

@jenali Good combo. Acceptance is a unique theme to have. What would you say the focusing question is for that theme?
The story actually sounds a bit more like Method #2 to me, since the major and minor themes are providing part of the answer to the primary theme of leadership. Unless I’m misunderstanding what you’re saying? -

@jenali That sounds great! Doing foils with a theme of friendship can be especially interesting because then the two characters’ foil relationship with each other becomes an aspect of the actual theme (friendship), and the reader can see how both characters treat the same friendship differently. Good choice.

@jenali Good. I would generally agree with you that writers who struggle with theme don’t often have more than one theme. I like the way that your two examples parallel each other (one being the third method done well; one the third method done poorly). Contrasting similar situations of stories that work and stories that don’t work can be a great…[Read more]

@daeus @jenali @spradlin I think that we are outnumbered by introverts. Probably a good thing…less cooks in the kitchen make a better concoction.
@that_writer_girl_99 I’m working on it. I haven’t written much in the past few days, but I have it all planned out.
@christi-eaton Aha! Another extrovert!Okay, if Daeus is the dictator, and…[Read more]

@emma-flournoy The weird thing is that, although I’m such an introvert, most people think I’m outgoing and bubbly in person. I guess it’s from working too many years as a clerk or a secretary. XD
@ethryndal @theliterarycrusader I agree. “Intense and passionate” is an accurate description of us INFJs. People frequently ask me, “Could you be…[Read more]

@jenali Somehow it completely makes sense to me how someone could be like both Meg and Jo. 😛 I probably am too, truth be told. I’m not as much of a tomboy as Jo, although I’m a country girl, which sometimes looks similar, haha! And thank you…the title of my post is based on something that actually happened to me once. XD

I’m rather confused as to how the conversation ended up this way… @daeus
@Winter-rose I totally agree with you on the Perceiver thing. Although, now that you mention it, that sounds like an interesting book…

@jenali Sweet! Always great to neat an ENFJ. (Actually, I think @his-instrument is an ENFJ too.)
I think what we should do is take over the book market and get everybody to know us. Our books need to be vulnerable and deep too so that people feel they can trust us.
Then we need to try to help people as much with their everyday lives as possible…[Read more]

@jenali Oh! Another ENFJ! Yeah, come to think of it, there are hardly any extroverts on KP…huh.
We could write books with jaw-dropping cliffhangers and only give them the resolution if they give us the world. -

@jenali Looks like a good set of minor characters there! I like the fact that you have a foil situation with Teren’s house and the country as a whole. Those kinds of comparisons can make for effective theme development.
