Kate Flournoy replied to the topic Character/Fiction inspired Typography/Art in the forum Art 9 years ago

@salome01w4g I feel ya. 😛 Honestly I stopped deliberately looking… if I see one that looks good I’ll grab it, but it’s rare that they’re ever perfect. XD
Kate Flournoy replied to the topic Character/Fiction inspired Typography/Art in the forum Art 9 years ago

@salome01w4g mm. Yeah. Well, I don’t think you’re ever going to find a place that doesn’t have that risk, but I’ve found that Pinterest is generally a safer bet than just plain old google. I’d definitely recommend not extensively searching most stock photo sites (as a cover designer I learned that pretty quick *winces*) because just about anyone…[Read more]

@salome01w4g safely? As in, staying away from sites that might have harmful pictures and such?
Kate Flournoy replied to the topic Character/Fiction inspired Typography/Art in the forum Art 9 years ago

@Daeus that’s my favorite too. 😉

@daughteroftheking, BTW, are you Australian? Cause, um, you’re awake, so…
ClaireC replied to the topic New Website Party! in the forum Announcements 9 years ago

@daughteroftheking, *severe glare* Yes of course there are other things. Like discussing how to eat all these things. How to make them, how to lose weight after eating them. Lots of things.

@clairec Is there anything else we need to accomplish besides eating? That’s really the only thing I can thing of. 😀 And you’re making me hungry. 😛

Writing is easy. All you have to do is cross out the wrong words. – Mark Twain
ClaireC replied to the topic New Website Party! in the forum Announcements 9 years ago

@dragon-snapper, @daeus, Can I join the Parliament? ‘Cause, you know…gotta remember the Aussies. *waves hand from other side of world* Also, someone needs to make sure that something besides eating happens, cause so far that’s all your agenda says. But I will bring lime, coconut and white chocolate ice cream. Or maybe Caramel Apple Blondie…[Read more]

@salome01w4g I can’t write at the moment, but I wanted to say picture collages are awesomeness! Go forth and conquer!

@kate-flournoy ALL. OF. THESE. ALL OF THEM. Ahh! *stares open-mouthed*
Snapper replied to the topic Character/Fiction inspired Typography/Art in the forum Art 9 years ago

@kate-flournoy Okay. I’ll see about posting some of mine then.

*tries not to run off and do it immediately* *squeals* Ahem. Dragons don’t squeal. *Roars*

But yeah. Those are beautiful. Love the one with the waves.

“In my defense, you’re my favorite character, and it’s a proven fact that authors love torturing their faves. Don’t ask me why, but there it is.”

@Ethryndal I saw your post on your book, and now I feel guilty because that is exactly how I feel toward my favorite character. XD Yep. So true.
- Ethryndal replied 9 years ago

  *high fives fellow torturer* What is it with that, anyway? It’s like… seeing blood on their faces makes us feel good about them. I dunno. I always liked it when my favorite character in a book or movie got beat up. *shrug*

  @Dragon-Snapper @Ethryndal Guys, THIS READER IS THE SAME.
  ” I always liked it when my favorite character in a book or movie got beat up. ”
  *extreme nodding* We’re like psychopaths, but it makes us love them more. It does. *hugs specific characters in mind*
  And then feel a million times happy when they get happy again.
  - Ethryndal replied 9 years ago

    @Emma-Flournoy Why doesn’t this surprise me… XD
    Well, be happy, because every good character I ever write is probably going to suffer mass amounts of torture. After all, there IS a reason writers are likened to villains…
  - Ethryndal replied 9 years ago

    And don’t tell me Denholm is a tortured character…

      @emma-flournoy @ethryndal Yes–when I was younger and before I started writing, my friends always told me that I had to be the badguy. And why?
      Because I was so good at it.
      *headdesk*
      *confetti*
      I can’t decide.
      And who in KeePer is Denholm?
      Wait. *glances around*
      Is it from Kate’s book?

      @Ethryndal I know. 😂

      @Dragon-Snapper BRAVO! How ever did you guess?
      And I can see how you’d make a good bad guy… 😀
Kate Flournoy replied to the topic Character/Fiction inspired Typography/Art in the forum Art 9 years ago

@GracieGirl gorgeous! I love them!
@Dragon-Snapper my apologies, fellow Chosen One. *elvish bow* I do not know the specific answer to that question, but I don’t see why not. So long as you’re not using them to make money or in any project that will make money (like a book cover) you should be good.

And… lessee. I’ve done a few more collages…[Read more]
