Thanks, @overcomer. 🙂 I really appreciate your meticulousness. 😉 I’ll definitely take all those corrected lines into consideration.
Yes… I had so much fun with this poem, because it was special to one of my main characters. His mother used to sing it to him when he was little— scared of the dark and of thunderstorms. Near the climax of the…[Read more]

Ooh, nice topic! I can just ramble without worrying about whether or not I’m being coherent… COOL!!!
Right now I’m working on mopping up the mess of a beginning my WIP has… or had, would now be a more accurate word. It was really, really, really slow and rambling getting started, so I’m working on streamlining it and pushing it off strong on…[Read more] -

Awesome; so I can just ramble and talk and no one will think it’s strange? 😉 I’m currently working on planning out a battle, with a mixture of prophecies, secret caverns, the epic fight between the good and the bad guy…nothing is coming together yet; or rather it’s coming really slowly. I did get one great idea in the shower last night, but I’m…[Read more]

Oh wow @overcomer, totally no rush— I’d no idea you were actually going to do an in depth evaluation of either poem. 😛 Not that it won’t be welcome— but you really didn’t have to if it was too much trouble. I was thinking you would just skim over it once and tell me your general opinion.
So… no pressure. 🙂Wow, though, I really…[Read more]

Awesome, @spradlin! Very inspiring. That’s something I personally struggle with remembering, so it’s a good one to keep in mind. 🙂

I just realized @faithdk, that my time was out. So you had probably finished. But I still wrote for 45min and completed a poem about birds. It is very cute. (Even if I do say so myself) 😉

Joshua is writing this because he wants to. I picture him as a bully. Yep, definitely a bully. But if something really bad happens, he is sorry for it immediately.
Thank you. That’s a good letter. I can see I shall have to do some serious thinking about it. 😀 -

@kate-flournoy, Lovely thoughts! 😉
@daeus, Oh, yeah. I struggle with showing and not telling when I’m writing. A lot. @ingridrd and I were looking through some of our novel chapters after the convention, and we found soooo much telling…Thank God for rough drafts! -

Awesome topic, people! Love it— everything said here thus far I completely agree with; in fact, you guys got most of it already. 😉
Another thing I’ll just add, though, is watch out for ‘telling’ in POV, even. Let me give you an example.
Trevor blinked, frozen in his seat, his heart thumping furiously in his ears. This was the chance of a…[Read more] - Load More
