Welcome to the forum @arella-noreen! Great to have you with us. I like the premise of your novel–superhero novels are really fun. Have you read Into the Fire or Steelheart? Both are pretty fun superhero stories, especially the former.

One thing to clarify would be that, since there /can/ be some overlap between the Foil and the Influencer, is that the Influencer needs to be directly trying to persuade the protagonist to come over in order to be a proper Influencer. Take one major character who’s neither the protagonist nor the villain and figure out how that character relates to your story’s theme. Develop a character arc for them and determine which of the three paths they’re going to follow and how that path will best complement your story’s theme.

@widdrim Hey, another English/literature major! Welcome aboard. 🙂 Have you ever read Owen Barfield’s Poetic Diction? That’s the extent of my knowledge on linguistic drift, and it was a bit speculative at times, but it was overall a very fascinating read.
