@Sam-Kowal Arghh yessss. I started Words of Radiance last night and so far I’m loving it too. *lots of flailing*
Kal, Shal, and Dal though. XD That cracked me up. Kal is definitely my favourite though. *hugs the precious bridgeboy* xP

@Jenwriter17 I concur with the others and say that 3 POVs is fine.
I’ve found a couple of posts on Helping Writers Become Authors that you might find helpful:

@sage-g Wow, that’s fabulous! Thank you so much! This is why I didn’t attempt it myself. 😉 I can’t draw like that! :0

@Mariposa artwork would probably fit the bill too. Remember that you don’t have to stick with the one option forever. You can play around with every email you send out. 😛
@Daeus I’m curious that you say that. When I sent out my first newsletter I had no pictures or anything and the biggest lot of feedback I got was for “more photos and…[Read more]

Thanks. Finding what matters to him. hmm…
Awesome!!
I was planning on articles, but have found out he thinks they are awful… so we’ll see how a few go over.
I think he’ll grasp it quickly… *if* he cares like you said.

@aella Yeah, definitely speak in his terms. Don’t try to make him a writer or treat him like a writer, because that’s probably not where his focus should be. He won’t understand the way you think, so you have to understand the way he thinks which is. It doesn’t matter what you value about writing, find what he values and show him whatever ways…[Read more]

@anne-of-lothlorien @mariposa Actually, statistics show that people are far more likely to read an email that has just text. People say they like pictures, but when it actually comes down to it, they distrust emails with pictures in them. Of course, it depends on your niche, but I think it’s most likely your audience will pay more attention to you…[Read more]

@that_writing_girl_99
Pretty much, unless it’s math, the kid zones out.
Aaah, yes, I use the word kid loosely. He’s fifteen.
Pretty much where he is seeing chaos, I’m having trouble explaining how, there can be, if he uses it, order.
I don’t really understand either. I believe they want me to kind of… coach him through writing the novella?…[Read more]

@Aella yikes… I do not envy you. 😛
Well… oh boy. If this was my task, I’d probably take a mathematical approach, since communication is all about presenting the material in the way your audience is already used to thinking.
First, I would explain the purpose of fiction— how it’s use is to touch people on the heart and make them think…[Read more]

Hello all! I know I’ve been MIA for quite some time. *sighs* I’ve missed y’all. Wi-fi is being installed today, so I hope to be here more often, soon.
For now, I come in search of assistance.
In my group of friends, I’ve accidentally become known as the writing expert. (HA!) I mainly edit, but they do bring me all their questions etc. (No, you…[Read more]

@dragon-snapper What they said 😉
Quick tip: Make a goal list. Doing as many of these as you can is a fabulous goal, but don’t try and do them all at once. Pick your top three priorities (say like, email list, submitting a short story to a site and joining a new writing community) Focus on getting those three goals established/done before adding…[Read more]

@jenwriter17 I agree with everyone else here. Three POVs isn’t too many—just make sure you aren’t headhopping between characters. Always insert a scene break before switching POVs. 🙂

@jenwriter17 No need to apologize! Long is good, especially when it’s packed with helpful information. Thank you for your input and advice! 🙂 It’s really helping me to formulate my ideas and strategies.

@jane-maree Cool! I’d probably do a giveaway then, like a chance to win an illustration for their book or perhaps a free portrait of themselves.
I rarely take photos so do you think artwork would suffice in place of that? And perhaps Aberdeen comics?
Thank you so much for your advice, Jane! 🙂

@aratrea Actually, my email list subcribing is rather…rare (I only subscribe to 2 right now). I usually prefer to pop into someone’s blog once a week rather than subscribe to an email list. 😜 I don’t even “follow” blogs in the normal sense by clicking the follow button; I just save their blogs to my favorites list and regularly check them. I…[Read more]

@livgiordano I like the idea of exclusive artwork. I post about 4 pictures per month on my blog, but I could always reduce that to 2 a month and have the other 2 be for my subscribers. I’m planning on writing an ongoing series of short stories featuring the same characters which I might include in my email list also (probably with i…[Read more]
