@Northerner Yes, Kingdom Pen is wonderful. I don’t know where I’d be without the things I’ve learned and the people I’ve met here.

Hope Ann replied to the topic NaNoWriMo in the forum General Writing Discussions 7 years, 6 months ago
@emily-d I did NaNoWriMo for the first time last year, though I’d done some camps before that. It’s a great way to get a lot done on a single project and it’s fun to be working with others with similar goals. The one major tip I would give is to figure out beforehand how much you need to do each day to get done in the month. That way you can work…[Read more]

Hope Ann replied to the topic Ben-Hur: Book, Charlton Heston, or Morgan Freeman? in the forum General Writing Discussions 7 years, 6 months ago
@His-Instrument I like the book the best. I never really cared for the Charlton Heston Ben-Hur, though I did like the newer version. The ending I felt was a bit rushed, but I did like the changes they made, especially with the Judah/Messala storyline.

@anne-of-lothlorien I really like the present tense in this. *waits for random answer*

@ethryndal *chokes* That… that is hysterical. I can’t believe how much the face looks like him while also looking so… off. XD And that frog. I get the impression that ‘The Wiser’ is somewhat indulgent while his frog keeps everyone in line when he isn’t looking.

Ok… so I’ve not read it yet because I’m at a creation conference. I might get to it later on. But… I wanted to share this. XD

@graciegirl Glad I could help. Villains can be so much fun, once they fall in place.

Hope Ann replied to the topic All about villains in the forum Characters 7 years, 7 months ago
@graciegirl One thing to remember is that characters (and people) aren’t always logical. From an outside perspective, one can stand back and shake their head at a character and wonder what they are thinking and why they don’t just get it. But inside the character’s head is another matter. Emotions and beliefs twist together and they will sometimes…[Read more]

@graciegirl Some of the most interesting villains (and the most dangerous) are the ones who honestly believe what they are doing is right and they are willing to sacrifice for their convictions. A villain who is off for revenge is all very well. A villain who is fighting for something he loves will be even more dedicated. Plus it is heartbreaking…[Read more]

Hope Ann replied to the topic Novellas in the forum Novel Idea Critiques 7 years, 7 months ago
@dragon-snapper A novella is generally 20,000-35,000 words. Mine end up in the 30,000s, generally. 😉 You could easily get one done in a month. I wrote one in a week once… it was a bit crazy, but I got it done. And chapters depend. Mine average around 10-15.
I’ve heard it’s hard to traditionally publish a novella, but it’s pretty quick to…[Read more]

@Daeus Congratulations! *refrains from throwing anything because it is already a mess* That sounds very interesting. Being able to write a book-length book instead of an epic-length book is always nice. 😉

@michael-stanton *chokes* *swallows hard to refrain from dying so she can find out the rest of the story* Yessssssssssssssssss This shall be good.
And you know what else? Just because we’re villains doesn’t give you the right to make us lose all the time.
*bows to @dragon-snapper* Wes is looking forward to this muchly, Precious.

@f5a8c3e92 I don’t think I ever cried so much at an episode.
@that_writer_girl_99 Oh, yes. That one. The poor Doctor… It was so sad. Because you think it’s over and they’re safe and then… *sniffs*
Ok, enough emotions for tonight. And I just finished Rogue One again too… I’m off to bed. See you all! 😀

@f5a8c3e92 Talking about emotions and Doctor Who, remember the one where there was two Amys? My sister and I… that was the worst one ever. INTJ or not, I just… I couldn’t. It was so sad. *weeps at the memory*
