@dragon-snapper If the problem is just that your story seems too dismal, make sure there’s always an element of hope mixed in with the chaos and strive to focus on your characters’ yearnings/ambitions that drive them forward. Well I hope it will be. And yes it is about me. I told an older gentleman in our church who is also a writer and he said, “It seems to me a person of your age wouldn’t have much to write about.” LOL
