@aislinn-mollisong Yes, I once wrote a scene where my MC was taught to use a sword. There are of course many different approaches to teaching someone sword fighting, mainly depending on how much time is available. Generally, you’re taught footwork first, then sword drills are added on. A sword drill is a single maneuver practiced over and over.

First of all, y’all are awesome. This helped me too.
@dekreel don’t let fear stop you. God gave you a gift that He wants to work through but He can’t use it if you set it on a shelf and let it get dusty. So write no matter how bad it is or how different it is. Just because your writing voice isn’t like everyone else’s doesn’t make it bad. Don’t…[Read more]

@joy wow the Netherlands! I can imagine not knowing the language would be pretty tough. What is the job you are doing?
That’s great! I think family and friendship are very worthwhile topics to write about. Too often they get portrayed in a negative light, especially family. What is your book called, if I may ask.
@ashlyvye wow, you’re like…[Read more]

Hi, @dekreel
We can definitely relate!
Haley and I shot a video that hopefully should provide some encouragement, and help you finally kick that comparitis and self-doubt to the curb!
How to stop doubting your ability to write, and finally stop comparing yourself to other writers.

@Dekreel basically what has already been said. I struggle with this too. Especially recently. I found an author whose skill in my chosen genre is so crazily far beyond my own I don’t dare dream I’ll ever reach it.
And much as I hate to admit this, that thought drives me absolutely bonkers.
It’s not that I’m jealous of him, just that I loathe…[Read more]

@dekreel God’s writing a story right here, right now.
When I’ve doubted and struggled (which happens all the time), the only where I can turn is to my favorite (and, tbh, sometimes least favorite) author and say, “I trust you to write this story till its final, marvelous end.”
Now that I’ve done the popular thing and given the best advice I can…[Read more]

@supermonkey42 Can’t remember exactly. It was either lack of involvement or I didn’t have enough time.

<p style=”text-align: left;”>@ashleyvye realistic fantasy so like a fantasy world but without anything that can’t be explained aka magic? Hey, we are all newbies at something. Somebody always knows something we don’t. I’ve been at this four years and often still feel like a newbie. How has your writing experience been thus far?</p>
I tried writing…[Read more] -

@joy that must be pretty tough having a new job and being away from home. In guessing that would make you closer to my age (20)? What country are you in now, if you don’t mind me asking.
Cool. Ooh romance. I used to absorb Christian romances but after years of that I got tired of the copy and paste characters and plot lines. But now, I have this…[Read more]
