And how sharp does it have to be to qualify?

What if he’s holding a really dull piece of metal and then starts sharpening it? Or for a less weird scenario, what if he were holding Nahim’s weapon and then turned it on?

Well, Ellis is going to want to get some answers about what Zahlin is up to. Depending on what is, he’ll either want to help, go back to the feast, or (probably not) fight him again. So we need to wait for @highscribeofaetherium.

Yes he did. Though don’t tell HighScribe this, but Nahim would never shoot someone from behind, or stab them. His brother died by being stabbed in the back while he dueled, so Nahim considers it dishonorable.
