@Daeus I KNOW. I’m just… trying to play it cool here.
Trying.
Tryyyyinnnnggggg…
*deep breath* If I get too excited I’ll be let down. So. I shall not get excited.
*faints from excitement*
Okay, so the one big takeaway from this trailer… I think… NO PROMISES, BUT I THINK—! I could see a relationship between them working.
My biggest…[Read more] -

Sorry, I was being dramatic there.
Let me put this in cool, rational terms. This is the best thing since The Count of Monte Cristo. 🙂

Guyyyyyyyys have you seen the latest trailer?
*deep breath* Keep in mind that this is a trailer and bound to be a bit misleading for the sake of scaring the audience, but I… will just say that I am hopeful. A lot more hopeful than I have been.

@kate-flournoy Haha! I’m a mind reader too now. 😀
@bethanysinkyroses First, I think the Yellowstone setting could work. As far as the plot goes, my suggestion would be to make it a “back and forth” plot. What I mean is, have two distinct spheres for your story: one, the sphere of the MC’s interaction with her mother; the other, the sphere of…[Read more]

She can be a stereotype on the outside without being one on the inside. If she isn’t a POV character, maybe she could have someone she can confide in.

@bethanysinkyroses I’d agree with what Mark and Kate said. You’ve got a setting, but you don’t have any sort of plot. Predicaments alone are very boring. The predicaments need to build on each other. The outcome of one should lead to another, gradually making things worse and worse.
I also agree that clashing fantasy and slice of life isn’t a…[Read more]

@bethanysinkyroses that would be @sierra-r and I have forgotten Cindy’s as well. 😛
The first thing that strikes me as I read your summary here is that you’ve focused a lot on symbolism.
That’s a good thing. But it can also be a hindrance. In my experience, when I focus too much on the symbolism of a thing, it comes out one-dimensional as only…[Read more] -

@warrioroftherealm no character is ever cliche if they are approached as a person with a logical reason for being who and where they are in life. It sounds like this woman has a very good reason for being ‘strong’.
At the same time, I think ‘strong woman’ is frequently misunderstood or misinterpreted. A strong woman is not a masculine woman. A…[Read more]
