@dekreel Oh okay! Hmmm…I’m not sure that sounds very feminine.

@hannah-c Boy, do I need this reminder sometimes. 🙂 To be honest, I’m at a weird stage in my writing career. I’m struggling to find time to write *coughschoolcough*, but I want to write so bad. All. The. Time. And that just doesn’t work when life is so busy. *sighs*
I guess I need to start making time to write because I don’t want my…[Read more]

@dekreel Is your character a girl?
All I can think of are names like Peregrine (for a boy), Parrianne and Perris (those aren’t that good, I know). 😉

@emma-flournoy Sure, here’s one. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1oV9qnLtpy4Cwn8-JFfJaXzOn4A5-yqRBR-AqlFIyYdk/edit?usp=sharing
Yeah, song creation and all that. I probably should have come up with something more original, but in my defense the song creation is the basis for the whole magical system, the last book’s allegorical aspects, and the…[Read more]

Hi KeePers,
Any of you who write structured poetry, I could use a bit of help with a poem I’ve written. This is for the fantasy novel I’m writing and essentially recounts the first events of the world.
My problem is that I know a few spots have clunky meter. I generally have a good ear for meter and maybe I could fix this by myself, but…[Read more]

Daeus replied to the topic Unlikable Protagonist? in the forum Characters 6 years, 9 months ago
@introvert_girl Sam really said it already, but you can also add a backstory to show why the character acts the way they do. The overall tone of the story will help too. I think though that the most important thing is proactivity, like Sam said.

Ingrid replied to the topic Why do you write? in the forum General Writing Discussions 6 years, 9 months ago
I write for two reasons. 1) Because I believe the Lord can work through words and that the words we speak and write have power. 2) I write because I have to. What else would I do with all these insane, lovely ideas swirling around in this head of mine? Not that ideas are a burden buuut…*glares at all my WIP…[Read more]

Daeus replied to the topic Just a Bit… Dismal in the forum General Writing Discussions 6 years, 9 months ago
@dragon-snapper First of all, nice example. 🙂
I don’t think that it’s too dismal by itself. Even a lot of that can be good. It creates tension, you know.
It just takes a little bit of hope to keep the reader on the right track. Simple things too. Depression works because it pretends to be immense. Little, pleasurable, “childish” (quote on…[Read more]

@dragon-snapper We’ll I think you’re the first to ever reveal their name after hiding it for a long time. It’s kinda funny too because Danielle has a really soft feel to it which…doesn’t exactly make me think of a dragon. lol. Don’t burn me with a ball of flame, please! I like the name. It starts with a Da, after all. What more could you ask for?

Daeus replied to the topic A Year Ago… in the forum General Writing Discussions 6 years, 9 months ago
@That_writer_girl_99 I’m feeling slightly sentimental like you’re leaving, but you’re celebrating the fact that you’re not leaving. I find that utterly fascinating. Write that down somewhere. Happiness can be sad.

@That_Writer_Girl_99 wow… has it really almost been a year? 😛 Time flies.
Hey, I happily take the credit for all those terrible (awesome) things if it means I helped you grow even the tiniest bit. Thank you. I’m glad. Keep going. 😉

Daeus replied to the topic Just a Bit… Dismal in the forum General Writing Discussions 6 years, 9 months ago
@dragon-snapper If the problem is just that your story seems too dismal, make sure there’s always an element of hope mixed in with the chaos and strive to focus on your characters’ yearnings/ambitions that drive them forward. If you’ve got that all down, I bout your story could be too dismal. Problems tend to intensify stories. It’s only stories…[Read more]
