Yes, it does makes sense @kate-flournoy 😉 And I completely agree. Nobody wants to be given a bunch of rules to follow *coughmecough* 😛 I think that portraying God’s love (rather than all the “rules”), even in stories, will inspire people to seek God. A lot of people, I believe, think of Christianity as a bunch of rules. But it’s SO much…[Read more]

@writefury, yes! I just can’t get over how ironic that is… 😛
Vivacious is another word I like. I love how it sounds 🙂

@Daeus, Yes! Doesn’t Tolkien use the word discombobulated? Or maybe I’m thinking of confusticated. 🙂
Some of my personal favorites are pseudonym (I just love that way it sounds) and hippopotomonstrosesquipedaliophobia (I think I spelled that right…).

Hi everyone! Sorry I didn’t respond sooner. 🙂
Thank you all for your advise! @writefury, I haven’t done much of anything yet…I guess I didn’t know where to start (but I did come up with the MC’s name, which is a start 🙂 ).
@hannah-krynicki, that’s a great idea! I’ll have to try that.
@kate-flournoy and @daeus, I will have to refer back…[Read more]

Hello, everyone!
To be honest, I’m new to writing. I’m beginning a novel (I’m still in the planning stage), and I really need to develop my characters. Do you all have any characterization tips?
Thanks!

@Daeus, yes! Gandalf has so many great quotes. My favorite is probably “All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.” 🙂
@writefury: Great thoughts! Honestly, I forget to pray. A lot. And that’s not how it should be. But a lot of times, that’s the way people are; they need help, and suddenly they remember that…[Read more]

The existence of God is a given. Now this one sounds like an absolute no-brainer, but when you think about it it really isn’t. I mean, how easy would it be to assume the person reading your book is a staunch atheist and just dump all the evidence for God’s existence off on them? Very easy.
The thing is, when a reader picks up a piece of fic… -

Yeah, those characters are really fun to write; I just get really annoyed with her in the story. 😛 @kate-flournoy

Cool @rolena-hatfield! I love the name Miret. 🙂
Thanks! Madam Munch really is quite the character, and she is a bit like a mouse @kate-flournoy. 😛 She’s one of those characters who’s supposed to get you really annoyed, so I’d say she’s probably one of my least favorite characters in the novel.
