@koshka I will say however, with quotes, I’ve read the entire book of Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie and use quotes from that book for inspiration (and probably in my actual book)
I also read the other Peter Pan book Barrie wrote (Basically a prequel to Peter Pan) but…I don’t really suggest or recommend it because it was quite weird and a little disturbing? I know it had an underlying theme/message I’m sure but overall it was just weird and I didn’t like it. Idk if I even finished it XD

The year I’m not sure…it doesn’t take place in our world, so not any of our years…
The first book only spans across at least maybe a few months. The whole series (of Course it’s a series XD) Â 2 years or less.
And as for Peter’s father, not sure I ever got that far. I think I’d made him work along side the children’s Godfather (he grew up as an apprentice to the man, who was basically his adopted father) in His toy-shop. The man built all sorts of mechanical toys, think brass toys with gears and with mechanics.
He’s basically a prodigy of engineering however, and has been offered jobs in various positions from the time he grew to be an adult (from wealthy men and women, to government, etc) but he turned them down, preferring the family life and minor tinkering.
However…that changes when a ruthless dictator takes over everything.

A Peter Pan retelling in a steampunk YA setting, about a boy who must learn that life is worth living despite the battles.
Of course, as my books always do, there’s a theme that deals with inner/mental struggles and battles. I have my own mental struggles and family members/friends who have the same, and I want to write things to help people overcome these things, or at least feel they’re not alone in these things. My characters tend to always have a piece (or many pieces) of me, sometimes it’s all of them, sometimes just one.
Some characters have pieces of people I know. I think that’s normal for most authors/writers.
The one most like me when I first started writing this was Peter, with the Mental and inner struggles anyway. Outwardly, it’s Wendy, with her personality and such, but she has struggles I have as well. They all do I’m sure.

Here is was my (I think? XD) Newest Blurb or at least one of the newest blurbs when I left this WIP
When Peter Barrie’s homeland, Everlin is taken over by a ruthless dictator, his life is turned upside down. When his parents are taken captive by the dictator, due to their father being an inventor, Peter and his little sister, Bell, are thrust into an adventure unlike any they’d ever had.
Trying to find a way to escape their town, the two siblings meet Wendy, a spunky, optimistic girl on the run from the dictator’s pirates, who are taking children and teenagers for unknown reasons, and two pixie brothers named John and Michael who are on the search for their missing queen.
The unlikely group is pushed together with uncommon goals, but a single enemy after them all. Can the team achieve their personal goals while on the run, or will Everlin forever be a Neverland?
It’s a bit rough/long, but this was from years ago so yea!

I can’t remember what spurred that…except maybe just me being like “Let’s make Smee a girl!!” Honestly, when I first begun writing fairytales, I loved making twisted fairytales. I had a whole 22 book series planned called Twysted tales, and my favorite thing was changing them up! There was so many ways to change SO MANY THINGS but still have easter eggs and such and it was so fun! And then I became enamored with what I called MY Peter, (because even tho I was “retelling” Peter Pan, they became MY babies, because I was basically making whole new characters still…just reusing names and positions for them like Hero, Villain, etc. Peter legit is my baby, like November and Pax and all of them.
