@clairec Schoolwork is annoying… UNTIL you come home from school and realize your only homework is a writing piece for your writing elective and the article for your school’s newspaper… aka me right now. I should probably get of the Forum and get to that. xD
Also, could anyone help out a-still-sort-of newbie and introduce the concept of…[Read more]

@kballen Grammarly is an online website/program that helps you point out your grammar. Since my school gave me an account, I’m not sure how easy it is to access it, but it will point out easy to miss grammar mistakes (although not sentence fluency). It’s good for finding mistakes that you yourself may miss.

Grace H. replied to the topic Questions about writing a short story in the forum Plotting 8 years, 1 month ago
@livgiordano I don’t think it has to take away from your novel. Writing a short story can help you develop your MC, and like everybody else has said, it can really only be a short part of your character’s growth. Maybe they can learn one crucial lesson, and if you show this incident you display in your short story as a brief part of an overall…[Read more]

@seekjustice I know!! It sucks, especially since the username seems to be the one thing you can’t change. And yes, it is pretty hard. It’s like LotR in that it has loads and loads of description, but since it is mostly folklore/mythology, there is very little dialogue. It’s hard to stay motivated while reading it.

@seekjustice I’m actually reading the Silmarillion right now! Agh I’m trying to get it done (or not really trying in between schoolwork) but yeah, I would actually recommend reading the Silmarillion first, if you can get through it without losing track of all of the elvish races. It sets up the whole world for you from the very beginning, and was…[Read more]

You know you’re a Kapeefer when you see a brown-haired bearded guy with a giant raspberry on his head and get the reference @epicaddie2 😀

@kballen If you’re entering this into a contest, I would suggest putting this through Grammarly or having someone check over this for grammar/punctuation, just to polish it up.
Great concept!! I love how you vividly describe each setting, especially in the opening sentences.
If Harold is part of your MC’s ability to time travel, maybe you could…[Read more]

And a word about the theme… it’s amazing. Gramps is a cool guy, and you’ve developed both him and Tommy very well, and it carries the story through. Good job on character development + theme! You communicate a lot of spiritual information well, but it’s not cliche or annoyingly preachy.

@ceaseless-prayer I just read through the entire thing and…wow! This is such a thought-out piece of work. It’s amazing that you get to help shoot this whole thing, and act in it as well!
If I have time I may scroll through it and find a few little details that I saw… but I remember that in the first or second page you still had a…[Read more]

Grace H. replied to the topic Character Dilemma! in the forum General Writing Discussions 8 years, 1 month ago
@emily-d Maybe she could feature them as a minor character(s) in one of her other story ideas? Then she could make someone else apart from the MC be genuinely thought-out and help bring the story to life.

I read this quote soon after first discovering Kingdom Pen, and it stayed with me. Can anybody guess who this is?? 🙂 🙂

You know you’re a writer when you’re asked to write a skit for an announcement, then everybody leaves the room after the meeting is done but you’re still there on your computer, writing.

@valtmy I don’t know that much about babies either, but this sounds pretty plausible. It would also be an effective way of keeping readers on their toes, by making people think the baby is really a deep sleeper until the inconvenient moment… I think your “inconvenient moment” makes it sound realistic (because life isn’t perfect) and will make…[Read more]
