@inkling-for-christ Welcome! I love this place on the Internet too, although I am also fairly new here…
I’m an LOTR fan as well, and it’s amazing that you’ve taught yourself how to write in Elvish. I really liked the movies and binge-watched behind the scenes on Youtube — mostly film though. NOWHERE near as dedicated as you.
Anyways glad…[Read more]

@emily-d, No problem! And no, I haven’t. I am pretty inconsistent at following musicians, and the songs I listen to are usually by random artists but happen to be ones that I like.

@emily-d I use thesaurus.com regularly. I also use music — not for inspiration, but songs that I’ve already heard a lot and am familiar with. It helps to block out background noise/talking, but since I’ve already heard them a million times, I can focus on my writing instead of the dynamics of the music.
ALSO @emily-d @mariposa I grew up…[Read more]

@daeus Yes, it definitely helps! The contrast between the two scenarios is really cool. Thanks 🙂

@epicaddie2 No, it’s definitely helpful. It’s an interesting way to think about it actually, since I feel like a lot of actual conversations have small talk that wouldn’t have a place in a story when you’re trying to move the plot forward. I’m not sure about having characters saying “um” a lot when they’re speaking. I’ve written some conversations…[Read more]

@perfectfifths Yes, it helps, thanks 🙂 I feel like my writing would flow better if I could do the thing without taglines, but every other line some character has to have a reaction… and it makes me annoyed at myself.

Hi everyone! Over the summer I wrote a 30,000 word fanfiction — longest completed writing project ever! Yay.
Anyhow, I’m revising it and publishing it weekly on Wattpad. The main element of this narrative (as it is for many fiction stories) is dialogue, and I was struck by how hard it is to get it balanced/realistic.
I think one of my main…[Read more]

Wow so many questions 🙂
@Shannon: I don’t have much of a preference, but recently I’ve liked Grace Vanderwaal’s music, and I often sing worship music.
@Elizabeth: Thanks 😀
@Daeus: I first got started when I took the Common Writing Assessment in 3rd grade, and the person who graded it gave me a perfect score. And I’ve been reading for…[Read more]

Hi everybody! My name is Grace and I’m a missionary kid who attends an international school in Taiwan. I’ve been writing random story ideas on and off since I was in 3rd grade, but since high school I’ve been pursuing my writing more seriously.
Apart from writing, I enjoy music (violin, poking with 3 fingers at the piano to make chords, and…[Read more]
