@Anne-of-Lothlorien I have no blog. But @Kate-Flournoy will within the next year, if things go as planned! 😀

@Daeus Okey-doke. There goes that. 😛 Sometimes I have a thought that seems really legitimate but when I look back on it seems simply grasping at straws.
“but only what is beneficial for the building up of the one in need, that it may give grace to those who hear.” Now, as I see this, this means you should only include clean stuff in your wri…

Here’s the verse, everyone, for convenience. NKJV.
Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. Ephesians 4:29

@Daeus wow. That was some post. It’s so good how deep you’re going to really try and find the answer.
Yep, I know Ephesians 4:29 (memorizing verses is dangerous, but only if you’re afraid of your conscience. 😛 Which is totally natural to be, I know. Human nature.). We use NKJV too. What’s awesome about NET (and what does that stand for)?

@Leumeister Sounds like some interesting stuffs. I…do see a pattern. 😛
I’m not sure if whole stories are allowed to be posted on the forum; @Daeus probably does. You could post an excerpt though, just for us to read a bit.
I know, reading immature writing (especially if it’s your own 😛 ) can be so funny. -

@Rolena-Hatfield Hey, I really appreciate you. 😀 You always seem so happy and friendly no matter what you’re talking about, and I love seeing the emphasis you’ve put in some of your posts on honoring parents.
It’s really inspiring to see someone who acts with such lovely character all the time; sometimes convicting, too. 😛 Thanks so much for…[Read more] -

@Daeus Oh cool! An audio of your own book…that’d be exciting.
I know what you’re saying about a person reading the whole book as opposed to an actor representing the specific character, but I don’t think the issue of the person reading the book for the audio is the only problem. I thought it might be bad if the word was said out loud at all,…[Read more]

@Daeus I would never read a curse word from a script, whether play or book. Something you could consider (though it’s kinda minor) about whether or not to put the words in your writing is, what if someone were to make an audiobook or movie out of your story (pretend for a minute that’s likely to happen. 😛 Ya never know!), they’d have to say the…[Read more]

@Daeus @Dragon-Snapper I think it would be better for just avoiding any confusion if those similes weren’t used at all. I know one can’t always (nor should necessarily always) avoid everything that could potentially be confusing, but it would perhaps be better to just use different similes.
I don’t think it’s wrong to use them though, as far as…[Read more] -

@Dragon-Snapper good point, but may I point out that they’re not talking about swearing. They’re talking about similes. Likening something to heaven or to hell, not saying ‘by heaven’ or ‘by hell’.
Yeah. 😀

3. It doesn’t glorify God. In my opinion, as Christian writers and putting that seems like we show that we don’t mind it. Do not be conformed to this world. I’m not saying that you/we are if we use it, but God very clearly does not want us to use that in any instance. Yes, characters make mistakes, but it leaves me, personally, going away with…[Read more]

@emma-flournoy Oh Emma! For some reason I wasn’t notified of your first (really sweet 😉 ) comment! Of course you didn’t say something wrong! That’s very sweet of you to say and encouraging. Honoring my parents is sooooo important to me (as it should be) but very difficult to do sometimes. My posts have even been convicting to me. (I said this I…[Read more]
@Rolena-Hatfield Whew! I didn’t think there was anything there you would have taken offense at…certainly not. 😛 I thought it might have been malfunctioning notifications, but wasn’t sure.
