I totally agree. And personally, I don’t think a series should ever be unless it was originally planned to be one. If you plan on just doing one, like you said it might not be as bright and ecxiting afterwards. And if it’s l=not, I say move on to one of the many other ideas that have been on the backburner! It seems like you might need to either re-do the entire first book (which sounds like something you have already tried and is also probably going to be a bunch of work) or change the series to start at another book.
