Today I spilled my coffee. Someone is going to die
This line (and the explanation) made me laugh hard…albeit mainly internally because my sister is sitting behind me and thinks me crazy enough as it is. 😉

Okay guys, this is a really silly question… but how do you do those cute little smiley faces in posts? I can get the smiley, the winky, and the one sticking it’s tongue out, but as for the rest I can’t seem to find the right combinations. Help? Please?

Kate Flournoy replied to the topic Outlining? in the forum General Writing Discussions 11 years ago
Yep, that’s me all over. Except I don’t purposely daydream— I hatch a plotline while I’m in the middle of another novel, and by the time I get around to writing that plotline, the book is already all written out in my head. The thing is to get it down on paper. And often it will change with the writing— hopefully always for the better. 😛

So, outlining – what do you do? Not just do you do it or not, but how do you do it or why don’t you. Especially for those who do, this may be a good brainstorming session leading to the adoption of new techniques hitherto unconsidered.
Personally, I had most of the major plots laid out in my head before I started writing my novel. Whenever I…[Read more]

Congratulations! You are now a ghost. You can pass through writer’s block like trees (for a ghost that’s pretty easy).
A thousand welcomes.

antipathy, wend – don’t really use wend unless trying to sound middle english.
“Whither wend(est?) thy way oh scoundrel for whom I feel the strongest antipathy?”
“Whither wend” – ah.

Whoa! Ya’ll have added some awesome words to my vocabulary! I like them all, even the depressing and intellectually cruel ones. 🙂 Some of my favorite ones are more of the beautiful words that just sound, well beautiful… scrumptious, delicious, majestic, delightful. Ooo and the words that are something beautiful like moon and meadow and stream…[Read more]

Also remember, Jackson, that the Biblical account of the crucifixion was not graphic in the least. Now, a lot of that may have to do with the familiarity people of those times had with the gruesome punishment of the cross, and so they could appreciate it without context. But even if you are trying to remind your audience of something they are not…[Read more]

Depends on a couple things. 1, who is judging the contest. 2, who is your target audience outside the judge panel. 3, how you approach the gore. You’re not gonna want to make it appear all fluffy for sure, but too much can get a little sick. I’d suggest giving lots of general descriptions and few detailed descriptions. It is also important to…[Read more]

Serious, veeerrry serious. Well, you’ve come to the right place.
My diagnosis confirms that you have a very serious malady. To use a very long medical sounding latin term, you don’t like parts of your story. The fact of the matter is, you should love your story more than anyone else in the whole world.
Now if I were to guess why you like some…[Read more]
