Thank you, @Daeus. That pretty much answers all the doubts I had about this scene.
You should hire yourself out as a professional editor. But honestly, I don’t know how anyone could stand such a profession. 😛
One question— what about the guy? Did the scene pique your interest in him? That’s pretty much the only purpose to have it— to show…[Read more]

@kate-flournoy I don’t think all the adverbs and adjectives are bad. There is some good description here. The worst part is at the beginning. It would have been better I’m sure with some context, but there was an over description or at least ineffective description that made it feel like running through two foot water. It got much better later on.…[Read more]

Those are some great ones @hope. Those could seriously be stories. I’ve always wondered myself why people thought that if they found aliens the aliens would be super intelligent.

Aliens invade earth, but are quickly surprised at how much stronger humans are than themselves.
Or and Alien invasion with humans being the aliens and invading another planet.
A character falls from his world into a strange new one, only he happens to be a prince/peasant boy who enters modern times.

‘Kay, this is actually an excerpt from one of my historical fiction novels that I wrote some time ago. It’s pretty much the introductory scene for my second main character, and I’d like to know what you guys think.
Pretty much all you need to know is that he’s supposed to be mysterious— I delve deeper into his actual personality a little later…[Read more] -

Ok, now for the explanation. I’ll skip number one, because that is mainly what we always talk about here. Here we go.
2.Get as many people as possible to see that your book exists.
This is the subject of what we call “visibility”. There are three-ish ways to get visibility. One is by promoting the book yourself by emailing your friends, doing…[Read more]

Select whatever you want to to put in quotes and then push the ‘b-quote’ button along the top of your post and it will make it look like you’ve quote something (if I’m understanding your question right).

A book where nobody dies.
Now that would be freaky.
Why? None of my characters ever die. -

I’m not 100% percent sure that anyone dies in mine.
The villain lives in a treehouse, a hero who is ugly, a world without metal, a villain who is obsessed with books.

First of all, the difference between a publisher and a realtor. A publisher is a person or company that turns your text document into a book. an e-book publisher is just like a traditional publisher except that they have far less work to do. A realtor is basically just a book store, except for e-book realtors, they are an online book…[Read more] - Load More
