I totally agree with what @dragon-snapper said. I can somewhat sympathize with you, because I’ve had a story idea in my head for about two years that I really want to write, but I’m having a really hard time with it. I am quite frustrated and it wasn’t fun anymore.
I started writing a completely different story, and though I haven’t…[Read more]

@ethryndal Yes! Definitely do it!
You’re correct that I did recently put my WIP on hold. I’d already rewritten it about four times and had just run into another major plot issue. I decided to set it aside and work on a new idea. I feel like I improved as a writer and a person by doing that. It helped me get a new perspective on my work, start…[Read more]

I’m gonna tag @graciegirl in this, just because I know she’s been there, done that.
And also, some encouragement: life happens. So do plot holes. Take a break, get your sanity back–if you can–and don’t be afraid to try something new. @ethryndal

@ethryndal Oh yeah. Taking a break from something like that is very good. Not only do you want to prevent yourself from a burnout, but also, it can lead to something even better, like what @mariposa said. I’ve done that multiple times. Planned out a story, begun writing it, then stopped. In fact, I have more than thirty stories in my files that…[Read more]

@Ethryndal do it. I plead horribly guilty of workaholism, but more and more I’ve come to value re-charging and taking a step back for a change of perspective.
I strongly do not recommend trashing the story you have, but I understand where you’re coming from. My current WIP (yeah, that one) has been going for three years and it drives me bonkers…[Read more] -

@ethryndal Taking a break is one of the best things a writer can do when they’re stuck. I wrote two whole books which I ended up abandoning because of plot holes, but mainly because I was writing the way I thought I was supposed to write. I didn’t know what to do or where to go with my writing. I started writing a kooky story just for fun, and it…[Read more]

@TheAcornMan I actually did write, when I was younger. They were mostly rip-offs, of course.
I have thought of doing it since, but never very seriously…I think I’m happy enough with my sister’s writing (I’m sort of ‘editor-in-chief’) that I don’t really want to do my own, and I know I wouldn’t be as naturally good at it as she is. 😛 So I don’t…[Read more] -

Hello all! So many people were gracious enough to pray for me and my family that I’m not sure I can tag you all. I’ll just tag the people I remember.
My family and I came through the hurricane safe and sound, but we were without power until Friday, September 15th. Once the power came back on we were able to go back to our house and since then,…[Read more]

@delightinlife No, abstract art has never really been my thing. 🙂 I tend to lean towards more realistic for my pencils drawings and for paintings an almost yet not quite impressionistic style.
@dragon-snapper I’m proud to shake hands with another self-taught artist. Yes, hair is horribly hard. And hands. For a while, I could hardly handle hands.…[Read more]

@alia sure thing. 🙂
Hey guys, I know she put in a request a page or two ago, but I wanted to kinda retirate it anyway. Continued prayers for Elizabeth’s family would be so appreciated! Her home is still without power from the storm. I know that I’d be super stressed by this point, so prayers for her and her family that they’ll stay strong and…[Read more]

Greetings, kapeefers! I have need of your assistance for which I will be eternally grateful.
I’m thinking about writing an article on drawing/painting etc. for a magazine (not KP). The problem is, I’ve never actually learned to draw/paint in the normal sense. All I know is from trial, error, and a lot of practice. Sometimes the best advice is to…[Read more]
