Ollo! I’m Reagan, the Editor-in-Chief of Kingdom Pen, and I’ve been working for KP for pretty much as long as it’s been around. I’ve really wanted to have a KP forum for about four years now, and we had one up for a little bit before we got hacked by several thousand Chinese bots. We have made some changes, so that issue should not reoccur.

    Some…[Read more]

Hey Mallory! Glad to see you on the forum, and congratulations on being the first to start a topic!

Still working on ironing out some of the bugs, but I hope you enjoy it here and that this forum can become a great resource and encouragement!

  • Hi all! Oooo! I love Lord of the Rings, too! 🙂 And the Chronicles of Narnia!! Favorite from LotR is definitely Return of the King. All of the strings are tied up and the story comes to its grand finale in it. 😀

As far as picking favorite books goes– it was tortuous to choose just one until last year when I read “This Present Darkness” by Frank…[Read more]

And now I understand, after much searching, the Toothbrush Twins idea…

My toothbrush is blue and white. xD

    @Taylor: Indeed I do!

@Sage: Sounds awesome! Can’t go wrong with airships and pirates! XD

Like Sarah said: think like they do!

Watching a few “kid movies” could be helpful, too. Or skim-read a few children’s books, especially in the genre your story is set. List some ways the movies/books specifically reach out to kids, and figure out how you can incorporate those methods into your novel.

Try to remember your favorite stories when…[Read more]

Short stories are fun! I haven’t tried them much – I’m too longwinded, I think! XD – but I also like poetry 🙂 What type of poetry do you write?

Like I said, I enjoy writing poetry, and also novels and non-fiction.

Aww, awesome! Do you live on a farm? Or just visit Eli’s enough to know him?

Hrmmm… what helped me when I was writing younger audience sort of kids books was I thought like they might think. Not all the time, mind you, but think about what they now and what they love and play off that.

@Skye: XD My reading often comes in spurts as well… Mostly due to my lack of time x3

@Taylor: Awesome! You’ll have to tell me what you think! I’m working on that myself. And welcome to the Forum! It’s a really great place 😉 Let me know if you have any questions or ask our awesome forum moderator.

Heyo! We’re glad to have you!

What type of things do you like to write? And is that a Rottweiler in your pic?? Those are sweethearts :3 What’s its name?

*Laughs* Perfect! It could be a pivotal learning experience, when she finally manages to do it on her own and we all weep with pride, and the audience applauds…

    I see…and would agree *nod*

That sounds like a good system! Good luck with it! 🙂

Yep! As I type, the same evil minion sibling keeps smacking my keyboard and messing up the typing…[Read more]

@ Skye — That sounds awesome! My mom is a big fan of Lori’s, although I’ve never read one of her books myself… and inspirational stuff is good!! Make no mistakes there 😉

@Bethany — Coolio! Hope you enjoy it! One choice can change your future and what not xD

  • Sarah Spradlin replied to the topic in the forum Erin Joy 10 years, 9 months ago

@Bethany: Hah! That counts as reading, methinks! I quite enjoyed Divergent when I read it myself. More morals and reasons for death in there than in the Hunger Games. In my opinion, Insurgent is even better. I haven’t read Allegiant yet though. Hope you enjoy reading them and continue on with the series!

As for an update for what I am reading, I…[Read more]
