Emma Flournoy replied to the topic Let's talk about Jean Valjean. in the forum General Writing Discussions 9 years, 2 months ago
What?! A Les Miserables thread? And dedicated to Jean Valjean no less!! Wow. So you love Jean Valjean as much as I do?
*long sigh* There’s too much! I feel the same as you with most of what you said, so I’ll not waste time repeating it. But first, Javert—I’m not entirely sure of my terminology, but I think he’d technically be considered an…[Read more] -

@Daeus Oh yeah, totally know what you mean.

Or ‘wistful’, but that may not be strong enough.

Emma Flournoy replied to the topic Book Description Opinions in the forum Novel Critique Requests 9 years, 2 months ago
@Daeus Ah yes, that’d do it.
How about ‘aching’? I looked up synonyms for yearning and that was the only one I saw yet that might possibly sound good…

@Daeus For the [insert descriptor here] you should do ‘tear-jerking’.
No, I’m kidding. It’s true but bittersweet kind of already says that. 😛 Eh…I’ll tell you if I think of anything. And you don’t need to eat your humble pie—how will they know how good it is if you don’t tell them?!
The only thing I’d say to fix is to italicize the book…[Read more]

@Northerner Okay…I’m not s’posed to post the link in a public place, so what should I do? Wait, I can probably e-mail Sarah (Community Happiness Director) and ask her to give you the address. I’ll go do that.

Emma Flournoy replied to the topic Call for beta readers in the forum Novel Critique Requests 9 years, 2 months ago
@Northerner Yep, than makes sense. So, even if I notice spelling/grammar errors, should I not point them out?
I think I can manage this. I’m not familiar with working on Google Docs, so I may need some help learning the ropes, but it shouldn’t be too difficult.
Now you need my e-mail address, right? (Mom’s, ’cause I don’t have one. 😉 ) -
Emma Flournoy replied to the topic Call for beta readers in the forum Novel Critique Requests 9 years, 2 months ago
@Northerner That doesn’t sound too long…I’m thinking about it, but lemme make sure I understand the schedule better. So, you’d send the document, and then you’d like one chapter a week at least…so I’d make note in the document on anything I notice (in your post here it says not everything, but on your blog it said anything…which is best?),…[Read more]

@Christi-Eaton Eh, not really. I’m terrible at drawing, unless I have a picture to directly copy, in which case I’m still not incredible. (Unless I’m drawing cubes. I’m good at those. XD) My ten-year-old brother would beat me a thousand times over in an art contest, even on an Etch-A -Sketch.
Your art sounds like lots of fun. I love character…[Read more] -

Eppi…that’s so cute. I figured it was after her…never heard of anyone else named Eponine. 😛 (Les Mis fans…what we won’t do. XD)
I know, gotta make money somehow. It’s useful at the very least. 😉 What kind of art do you sell?
Ah yes, I’m sure FB is good for long distance connections. How many…[Read more]

What’s your college class on? And are these classes not actual college, since you said after you finish them you’re off to college?
Your puppy does sound like mischief, but cute mischief. 😛 What’s her name, and what kind is she? Thanks so much for praying. 🙂

@emma-flournoy I’m just doing some online classes through Master’s college. I’ll have five under my belt before I head to Providence Christian College in the Fall. 🙂 My puppy is named Eponine (yes I named her after that wonderful Les Mis character) but we call her Eppi for short and she is an Australian Cattle Dog. I’ll have to send some pics to…[Read more]

@emma-flournoy,
I usually try to sell paintings, sometimes it’s fanart of Disney characters and stuff, so it’s pretty fun though I haven’t painted anything new in a long time. 🙁 My preferred method of art is are basic pencil sketches. I’m working on realistic portraits though I dabble in like an animated style every once in a while. What about…[Read more]

@Rachelle That comics one is so adorable! I can’t see the other one very well because of the laptop monitor, but it looks good. And I can judge from the others’ reactions. 😛
You’re really good at this.@Ethryndal I’ll have you know, I care about folding dishcloths neatly. *severe glare*
I can’t stand messy folding, even for just kitchen towels. -

And the moral to THAT is—don’t leave your iphones lying around!!
Just kidding. 😉Aaaand what some of the others said…still some punctuation and spelling errors and stuff; but you said you’ll be takin’ another look.

Good for you for playing the violin! I love music immensely but I don’t play anything. Mark has an ear for music so I just enjoy myself listening to him play piano, or whatever kind of instrument catches his fancy. 😀 Providence is only about 45-50 minutes away from my house (with traffic) and I will live on campus but it’s close enough I can come…[Read more]

Full ESTJ…well, I’d don’t know that they like drama that much, so practical and all; I don’t know, is that how they are? Mebbe you have a nice streak of iNtuitive too. 😛 But the teaching, and wholeheartedness of it all, yep, ESTJ for ya. ESTJs are great. 😀

That sounds like such a wonderful plan! I encourage you to follow in your faithfulness to the Lord as I can see you are doing already!
