Louise Fowler replied to the topic Character Dilemma! in the forum General Writing Discussions 6 years, 9 months ago
@emily-d Interesting. Is her story idea absolutely unsalvageable? No redeeming qualities? Because I can imagine it would be hard to create characters for a story, and then scrap the story, and try and find a new setting for the characters. :

Jenna Terese started the topic Weird Things People Tell Me 'Cause I'm a Writer in the forum General Writing Discussions 6 years, 10 months ago
I created this topic to share all the funny and weird things that has happened to us being writers. Here’s a couple of my experiences….
I daydream while my mom and another mom-friend talk about their kids’ interests. I’m really not part of the conversation until my mom says, “My daughter writes books.”
Mom-Friend turns to me. “Oh really?…[Read more]

@emily-d Hi! I’m pretty busty lately, but doing great! How ’bout you? I don’t mind stalking…..from nice people like you, that is. 😉Brainstorming pen names is a lot of fun! Do you have some names that you like for yourself?
Right now I’m reading The Centurion’s Wife and Creating Character Arcs. Both really good. What about you? -

@emily-d You don’t like “All I Need is You?!” Why?
My two favorite songs by Hollyn are “Obvious?” and “Girl” I also really like “In Awe”

Jenna Terese started the topic Cliches of Dystopian Novels in the forum Sci-Fi 6 years, 10 months ago
Hi, all! I know I kinda recently created a new topic asking y’all the cliches of sci-fi, but this topic is a little different. I’m thinking of writing a dystopian novel. I know this genre can be pretty heavy on the cliches, so my questions is ‘what are the cliches of this genre?’
I know the whole oppressive government thing is kinda cliche, and I…[Read more]

And I just noticed that you mentioned Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, which I haven’t read, but know of and a bit about. Would you recommend it? @emily-d
-
@clairec Hi! So you’re a classics fan? So am I!!! I looove classics. Yes, I would recommend Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde. It’s interesting. I remember that I didn’t completely agree with the author’s worldview when we read it. But with the gift of discernment and your antennae up, it’s definitely worth reading! Any comments @ingridrd? 🙂
-
@jenwriter17 🙁 Hmm…how come I never thought of that? Oopsies 😛
-
@clairec Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde was awesome. When it started out, I thought I was going to hate it. I didn’t enjoy the beginning, but the end is so suspenseful and well-written…I won’t give anything away. 🙂 Also, the theme of God’s forgiveness is stunningly evident, something I at least rarely come across in stories today. Definitely…[Read more]

@emily-d I don’t think I’ve listened to Celtic Women. I just have one Irish music CD.
I heard the Newsboys once in the God’s Not Dead movie (seen it?), and I really liked them.
